Crab and pork xiaolongbao are very good, could be soupier. Taro dumplings are unique and quite good. Pork bao are juicy and delicious! Kind of pricey for the amount of food you get, I get that they are trying to be upscale-ish but at the same time they're a chain, inside a mall. The price point feels just a touch high. That's the only reason for four stars instead of five.

Food was decent but me and my other poc friend went together and got terrible service. We weren’t talked to, we were sat, drink order taken, but with passive aggressive remarks we definitely did not feel welcomed. While the tables around us were greeted and talked to throughout the time.. just very weird and uncomfortable.

I ordered takeout from here, but upon finding the desk for takeout. The person working it had a condescending and rude personality was making snarky remarks to customers. I've worked in the service industry all my life, I can get being overwhelmed by having alot of orders and maybe not having the best attitude, however this person was taking out extra time to be rude towards customers and delivery people just trying to get food. Even then, that is not an excuse to be rude to people who simply just want to get their food or are trying to support their family by driving for a food delivery service. I can't believe this place would hire someone like that.

The owner is a racist who discriminates against single Asian diners (ironically it's an Asian restaurant). Upon arrival he asked if I was from China (why does it matter). Then I requested to change waiters to a man who happened to be Hispanic. Then the owner said that that was discrimination and refused service. Somebody is visibly upset about something in that place.

Food and location: 4/5
Location, cleanliness and waiters/waitresses attitude: 4/5
The seating system: 0/5. We were told it would be 20-30 min wait. Then it was 45 mins. We got a text saying to check in with staff to secure our table. We checked in and were told to wait for another 15 mins.
All in : 65 mins from the time we got the first text till our group name was called.
So, average at 2.7 stars?

Over rated with quality and quantity going down over time.
Asked for hot and sour soup...came with soooo much noodles and hardly any soup. Never seen noodles in hot and sour soup anytime in any other Asian restaurants. Only in this one! Not even in the original Din Tai Fung in

I honestly feel like being discriminated against because I'm Asian. I've been feeling silly about this but still true feeling. I'm writing this to see if anyone else has had similar experience.

I gave them 3 tries, across a few years. Every time, the meat in the xiao long bao and baozi was so old that it stinks! Every single time! I've heard the name many years before they came to Portland. Rushed to try it and disappointed! Went along with friends a 2nd time and same issue: stinky meat! 3rd time my children took me there for mother's day celebration: stinky meat! I have never been back! Felt discriminated when everyone else seem to enjoy it so much! Maybe it was me too sensitive? But my children tasted it too. Nonetheless, I brushed it off convincing myself most people are probably not as sensitive to food.

For the last year, however, my work has ordered from this place a handful of times. I ordered the same food and guess what? Every time it was perfect!!! This is crazy. What a shame!

Opinion Worth a Thought

We entertain non-Asian friends here so they get to taste authentic Taiwanese cuisine

Food decent! Kind of felt like a cafeteria with no music. Other location I’ve been to had a better ambiance.

This was an extremely terrible experience. The restaurant made our children very unhappy. We had a reservation at 2:45, but when we arrived, they told us that because we didn’t show up 15 minutes early, they gave our reservation to someone else. This completely disrupted our family plans, leaving the entire family and especially the kids very upset. We are extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with this experience. They’re unbelievable—they require you to arrive 15 minutes before your reservation time. We’ve made similar reservations before and always arrived on time, but no one ever told us we needed to arrive 15 minutes early. Is it because today is Saturday, a weekend, that you think it’s okay to give our table to someone else? We drove such a long way to get here, only to be this disappointed.”

Dine in is fantastic. A bit pricey in my opinion but still very good. Highly recommend not ordering for takeout. The dumplings get stuck together and rip open when you take them out of their boxes. Also not enough sauce and no chopsticks with take out. For $100+ I expect more from my takeout. If dining in o recommend reservations.

I understand holiday is busy season, but I am unsatisfied with the host not telling us when we would get our seating. Originally we were given a hour and 45 minute wait time but when we came back after 2 hours, they told us we would.have to wait an additional hour. The host Ella was unprofessional, and would not admit her mistake.

I'd give this place five stars, but it failed in a big way. I ordered four items that were pretty good. The problem of why I won't give them five stars is because they brought out my ribs cold. I asked them if they were supposed to be cold, thinking that this may be the way they are served to everyone, and they said they should be room temperature and not cold. They then asked, "Why, were they cold?" I told them that they were cold as if they were taken out of a refrigerator and set out to come up to room temperature, which they never did. I said they were still good in flavor, but were cold. I thought they would offer to take them off of the bill, but the didn't offer and I didn't ask. I normally don't ask to be comped for food unless the food is pretty bad and I don't eat it, but nevertheless, I thought this would be gladly offered and it wasn't. So, they failed on that aspect and the rest of the food was actually pretty good. I was not blown away, but I would recommend this place to someone. I'll give them another try with my wife and hope they do better next time.
