It was a very nice place, food was good. They were out of the pork so I had to make another choice so will need to go back.

The food is good, but they insist on covering everything with tiny sliced scallions. I am allergic to raw onions and requested they not do that. They did it anyway.

The food was great but the service was awful. Too bad because I used to love this place! The manager who came to our table was very rude as well and made sure we knew that even though the waitress made multiple mistakes, forgot to put our entree and drink orders in, (and proceeded to tell us we never ordered them), when asking us if we were ready for our bill at the end of our appetizer, that she would not be comping our beverages to make up for the poor service we experienced. She also forgot to put the table next to ours order in as well and they were equally frustrated. To top it off the waitress never even apologized or even tried to make it right, and when we asked her where our food and drink orders were she told us we never ordered them from her. What!? The manager told us that our direct approach (explaining that we did in fact order them, and she even gave us recommendations!) was rude. She was mean and defensive and rude to us. It was the worst restaurant experience my friend and I have ever had and we are still in disbelief over it. We won't be back.

Great for a Christmas Eve dinner out with relatives. The staff was great accommodating one if our family members who couldn't navigate stairs. Thanks for the extra care!

Food was , as usual, excellent. I do think, however, that our waiter could have used some help since he was covering all the tables in the bar dining room. He did a good job in the circumstances, but there were times when we had to wait to get his attention for service. That was the reason I held off on the final star. Otherwise the experience was up to this restaurant's usual excellent standard.

The staff were all super nice. Our food was delicious, though you can't go wrong with German food. Highly recommend the fondue! The place was packed when we went on Saturday evening but we still had fast service. I would recommend getting reservations during their peak hours though, just to guarantee yourself/your party a table. Overall we had a great experience and can't wait to come back again!

Further verified as our waitress was obviously trying to take came of too many guests and was in such a hurry. Apologized several times when drinks did not show up and meals were slow, so I guess the bar and kitchen were also short staffed. Wait staff was very courteous and worked hard under adverse conditions to take care of us. However, was not asked about my meal when I pushed it away only partially eaten, cold and tough. Ambiance was not so good as we could hear the cooks pounding out the schnitzel. Looked and all they had to do was close the adjoining door. Food & drink: Beer (Hafeweizen) and house wine were very good. Wife had a wonderful cabbage roll. I have never seen one so large. It was well done and flavorful. Could not say the same for my roast port which was tough and cold. Never seen such a dish of four thin slices of pork on potatoes or spätzle while living 20 years in Germany and Switzerland.

I was there for a small-ish party (@ 15 people), and the waitress that took care of us was friendly and efficient. My lunch was delicious, and looking at what everybody was eating, the variety and presentation was great. I can't wait to try some of their other lunch options!

I met with old friends I hadn't seen since before the pandemic. I made a reservation for four a week in advance. I indicated that I wanted one of their large booths and that we were celebrating Birthdays. I noticed that there was lots of instruction regarding arriving on time and not staying long at the table after our meal. etc. We arrived on time, we had to wait for them to set up our spot. They affirmed that I had requested a booth. When they came for us, I found they had set us up in the bar where they were seating those without reservations and there were no booths in the bar. It was so noisy that we had difficulty hearing each other talk. There menu had eliminated some entrees. The marguitas were awful and the salads were not as good as they were in the past. I ordered a fondue for the table and It cost $16.00+ for a small one with not enough bread. The server was asked not to start serving the meal until we had finished the fondue. She disregarded that request and there was no mention at any time of our birthday celebration. I hadn't been to Gustav's for some time and found this visit disappointing on several levels!!

We went for Thanksgiving dinner. We were able to make reservations about 10-14 days ahead. We got great food, great service!

Delicious food, great service. Our server worked very hard on a super busy Thanksgiving with every table filled and a lobby stuffed to the gills with waiting diners. He went out of his way to give us great service despite some challenges. The turkey breast was tender and all the sides were good too. Highly recommend.
