I'm only rating it 4 stars cause it is fairly minimal as far as McMenamins go. If I was rating it not held up against other locations I'd give it a 5 but, there are some pretty sweet McMenamins locations out there.

The iconic jbcs I somehow lost its mojo. There's been a high turnover of staff and I think that's caused some serious issues. Service lately has been lackluster and the food has taken a downturn too. It saddens me to see this happen.
Kid-friendliness: This place has always been quite kid friendly, My four boys practically grew up there.

Not my favorite mcmenamins. The place is cute and cozy but the food seemed old and the drinks unbalanced

Interesting location. Almost drove past it with how much the plants are grown over the front! Food is the same as pretty much any of their other locations which is always nice!

Vegetarian options: The signature veggie patty - the Hammerhead Garden - is delicious and can be substituted or added in any dish. The Mystic 18 burger is a vegan burger, complete with Veganaise based sauce & vegan cheese!
Dietary restrictions: Vegan friendly items. Vegan sauces and dressing.

They had a wood stove going when I went in, it smelled divine! Got a burger with fries, prices are on par for the area. Waitress was super friendly and made sure we were taken care of
Parking: There’s some spots right in front and additional parking more towards the side. Parking seemed more than adequate for the size of the establishment.

This is another McMenamins gem. A great place with a cozy bar and exquisite old wood stove for winter evenings.
Never a misstep with food nor service.

Interesting Oregon staple. Dive bar atmosphere with some good food. Try the cheese curds and fish and chips.

I met some really cool people here when I worked here. This was years and years ago. The food was always great. I’m sad that things happened there that were also really messed up. I just wish I had the communication skills I have now, back then. So I could’ve asked for help with certain things. What I also realized is that I was way to young to be given a kitchen manager spot when they moved me to the tavern when it re-opened after the fire. When I came into hell on opening night and tried to reach out and ask for help when it was our employee Christmas party at the Crystal and didn’t receive anything back I wasn’t seasoned enough not to leave. Probably another one of my bad decisions that I’ll always regret the rest of my life. Besides being too young and not really knowing what I was doing in that type of role all those years ago, it was still fun. Loved watching the beer making process at JBC while working there as well as visiting and helping other stores that needed help to get more experience under my belt. Every working place has pros and cons. Definitely a place regardless of the cons that everyone should experience at least once coming to Oregon. Just study different spots because some menus differ because some spots have super cool items that other spots don’t. Even though I’m in recovery and don’t like alcohol because of what it’s done to people at times that struggle with addiction ( yes maybe that’s biased and also a catch 22 ) for the people who don’t have problems like some of us do…. the pear brandy is a must try. Make it as a hot toddy on a cold night and pair it with a sweet dessert they have and you most definitely won’t be disappointed. Let’s also not forget about the cool events and concerts they have to offer. Just a really cool company when it comes to certain things. - I’ll never expect everyone I cross throughout my life to be in recovery. Give me a break…. I’m able to be ok with people still having fun. It’s not a crime. I only say that for the people in tow always having something to say about me being honest and looking at things from every angle. Love their Black Widow Porter! We were there for happy hour. Good selection of happy hour food. Surprisingly quick service for McMenamins!

It’s a McMenamins. Same semi-okay over priced food which you could have cooked at home for significantly less or bought at a strip mall from a no-name but you came here for the interesting decor and rustic ambiance and graciously avoided dish and clean up duty.
Bring your patience hat because this is a B crew that hesitates making eye contact and hands you an eighteen plus percent tip with the payment device.
