McMenamins John Barleycorns

This was my first visit to this location and will likely be my last. We had 6:00 reservations for 6 people and did not get our food served until 7:10. I would be able to understand this if the restaurant had been busy but the place was just not busy at all. From where we were sitting there was only one or two other tables. Service was extremely slow on all counts of food and drink as it seemed they only had one server for the whole restaurant

My biggest criticism is the lack of cleanliness in themed restaurants these days. You put so much effort into decor, and a yearly cleaning would not be too much of a sacrifice for decorum. Bartender was too busy to tend to the tables. Gave a good tip, but while I understand I was underwhelmed.

Food is great, service is very good, nice atmosphere! Plenty of outdoor seating & parking. If you go during happy hour, which is every day from 2 to 5 PM, you’ll get a nice little discount. Highly recommend the Tres Tacos. Delicious crispy fish with a light batter.

Great Spot in Lake Oswego, Awesome Service for our 8 Top Work Group, don't remember the Name of Our Server But He Took Amazing Care of Us in the Restaurant Inside around 7:30-9pm on a Saturday Night... Also Props to the Female Food Runner Who Had Mad Skills Getting Food out to the Patio and maintained a Great Attitude despite the Busy Warm Summer Saturday Crowd!

Such a pretty location. Love Mcmennamins and this was up there as a favorite. Always friendly staff, quick service and a much appreciated happy hour menu that changes regularly. Love having something new to try and favorites to come back to!

The McMenamins Barleycorn pub has a lot of outdoor seating that is masked from the sounds of I-5 and the heat of the sun, courtesy of some very large trees. Despite an unusually crowded Thursday afternoon, we were able to find some great outdoor seating under the trees, despite the size of the crowd. Through it all, the staff was great and patient with our indecision.

BTW - If you prefer indoor seating they have plenty of air conditioned seating, as well.
