Plaza Azteca has been my go to Mexican restaurant for a while now. Tonight, my boyfriend and I decided to eat there for our anniversary. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by 2 very rude boys with a horrible attitude. One showed us to our table, and we were so disgusted with how they treated us that we almost left. If it weren’t for our wonderful server, Hallie, we wouldn’t have given this restaurant our business. She was extremely kind and attentive, and even gave us a free dessert. Everything was delicious and our waitress was exceptional, but those boys at the host stand need to check their attitudes.

Food was excellent. Establishment was very nice. I ordered Plaza Del Mar white fish and shrimp with lobster bisque served over rice and it was so good. Husband ordered a combo plate and he quite enjoyed it as well. Would definitely go back.

We would mark Plaza Azteca a big cut above the average Mexican restaurant, to include the decor, the atmosphere and most especially the food. The menu was extensive, and available menu choices featured entrees and accompaniments that were different, interesting and delicious! We’ll be back anytime we’re in the area.

I’m giving 2 stars because drinks were good. But I just had the most inedible salad if you want to call it that. Should I have said something. Probably but this review was going to happen regardless I had the sante fe salad. With literally like 10 pieces of lettuce on the sides, corn, and beans. And mushrooms. That weren’t even listed that it was supposed to be on it and I hate mushrooms. And chicken that was just ok. It was pretty disappointing and the worst salad I have ever had.

My supervisor and I had to travel from Minnesota for work and we noticed this place was open after we got in.
The food was excellent. I had the Burrito de California, stuffed with rice, beans, fries, and grilled steak. It was massive for the price, and tasted delicious.
Our waiter, Tristan, was excellent. We were attended to quickly and he knew his stuff. Genuinely a nice guy who I would enjoy having as my waiter again.
I was admittedly not expecting such a gem to exist in Altoona, but here I am, writing a rave review. If I am ever back in town, I will be back here again.
What a delight to find this place! The whole interior/vibe was lovely,the fajitas and chicken quesadillas were amazing! Our waiter was great,also cool that he was from Honduras 🇭🇳 😄🤗definitely coming back if I’m in town!
