This is an excellent diner for breakfast or lunch. Prices are reasonable and selection is very good. Stopped by here for an early lunch and saw their breakfasts and they looked so good we came back the next day too. Went on a Friday and Saturday morning and it was really busy so there may be a wait to get in and get your food but its well worth it and the entire experience was about an hour so still well within range of not being too slow. Highly recommend any of the breakfast options. For lunch the hot meatloaf and hot turkey sandwiches were top notch. If you are anywhere near Altoona, stop here.

I've been going to Tom & Joe's for about 15 years, and it's been a great meal every time. Great ppl, great food at great prices is a winning combination, and you can't go wrong here. Kim, Tara, and all the waitresses are always a great time but also great at their jobs. It runs like a well-oiled machine because they turn a lot of super meals from a not so big kitchen area, but as I said, it's a well-oiled machine run by George. Thank you for all the great meals, and I'd recommend anyone to get to Tom & Joe's as fast as you can and as often as you can and support this great establishment.

A one of a kind place. Nothing negative about the place at all. I am definitely going back whenever I am able.

One of my favorite mom and pops spots to eat. Great food, fun atmosphere.

Yearly update: still the best little breakfast place in town

2022 Update: I write this as I am just finishing up what I would consider to be one of the best filets I have ever had. From Ditkas steakhouse in Chicago to Manhattan Steakhouse in Bonita, this has hands down been the best piece of meat I've had. Prepared perfectly in medium. It practically fell apart using my fork. All the flavors of the meat as it's meant to be had. Not hidden in marinated sauces or dressed in seasonings. Just a good piece of meat the way it's meant to be.

Always good food, very much a diner atmosphere, which makes sense since it is a diner! :)

I always avoided Tom and Joe's because of the area. But recently My husband and I found ourselves in that part of town and we visited Tom and Joe's for breakfast. I absolutely cannot believe the amount of food that was served to me on my plate.

My husband ordered a mess while I ordered a ham and cheese omelette. My omelette came with The best home fries I have ever had in my entire life. I gorged myself and ate everything on my plate.

After wobbling out of the building and back to the truck, we went home and I took a nap. Even after I woke up I was still useless because of my full belly to at least 1: 00p.

Very disappointed, drove over an hour to eat here, arrived at their door at 1240 and doors were locked but they advertise open till 1pm on Saturday. Change your hours to reflect when you can get in, not so your employees can rush around and close. Unacceptable business practice.

Love this diner.... It's like something out of NY City right in Altoona. The workers are nice and offer some comedic entertainment from time to time.. Great food, good price.

I highly recommend this place. Food was amazing and our server was on the ball. Portions were very large and filling. Sometimes there is a wait for a seat but we'll worth the wait.
