I used to love this place, but the new prices are INSANE. Everything is 80% to 100% more expensive than it was just weeks ago. Unacceptable and ridiculous šš» do not support price gouging
This place was awesome I had been the there spot at the reading terminal market and came here and was blown away by the selection of everything.
Easily one of the best and most unique businesses in the country by a longshot! If you like hot drinks & yummy treats, you absolutely must visit if you have the chance.
The Head Nut is remarkable for it's great selection of spices, nuts, tea, coffee, and candies all of high quality & good value. Many hard-to-find ingredients and products can be found easily here, such as foreign teas, old-school candies, and cool spices.
The customer service has never been short of lovely and the espresso served here is excellent, especially for the price!
I hope to see this business continue long into the future with the same level of quality that they have impressively maintained for many years.
Coffees, teas, grains, honey, jams, hot sauses, cookies, snacks anything you name.they got smth for your taste!
This place has everything from nuts to candy and something in between staff is very nice would recommend
I grew up going to the Head Nut with my mother. I moved away for 20 years but returned to the area, and was excited to be able to pick up my bulk baking supplies locally. I bake a lot of sourdough, and recently made a loaf with black sesame seeds purchased from HN. The loaf looked beautiful but⦠tasted of mold. I thought it might have been the sesame seeds so I tasted them separately, and sure enough, the seeds were moldy. I had purchased the seeds on 11/15/24 and had kept them in my freezer (3 months). I keep all of my nuts and seeds in the freezer to prevent mold, so I knew the seeds could not have gone bad due to my storage. (I have other nuts and seeds from the HN from well before this date, and all are fine.)
I brought the seeds and my loaf to the HN to let them know what happened. I assumed they would at very least replace the seeds (of course, I lost the cost of nuts and flours in my bread as well) but they insisted it was not their responsibility. I was absolutely taken aback⦠both because I have been baking regularly for decades and can only recall one other time when a spoiled ingredient ruined a baked good, and because the manager was not willing to offer the smallest amount of customer service in the situation.
Well Head Nut, you lost a customer for life over $5. My mother shops there regularly as well, and said she was not surprised, not having been impressed by managementās poor service. She too will avoid HN⦠Momās Organic Market is not too far away.
Having owned a small business for over a decade, I have no tolerance for poor service. I was not upset about the moldā things happenā but the fact that they would do nothing to make me feel better about shopping there completely turned me off.
I ordered several different kinds of sugar free chocolates from their online store and they are so delicious and good that I can't even tell they are sugar free! Their customer service is top tier and they are very helpful and friendly! My order arrived quickly and was packaged very well. I will definitely be ordering from them again!
What a fun place! Nuts, yes... But coffees, teas, candies, cookies, chocolates, baking products, honeys, jellies, jams, maple syrup, spices of all sorts, and more!
There is so much there and stuff in every nook and corner, so some spaces are a little tight. But it's just fun to walk around and explore!
This place is a gem. It has more to offer than the name, let's on. You can get teas, spices, chocolate, and so much more.
They have a wide variety of candy, dried fruit, baking goods, barbecue sauces, teas, coffee, and nuts of every kind. The only knock on this place is the fee attached to credit card purchases. They really like their cash transactions.

Overall I liked this store, a little expensive though. Customer service was a little off. Conversation about cheerleading seemed to occupy the young staff to the point of ignoring customers.
Great old school bulk vendor.
A trip to the store is a holiday tradition in my family
It may seem like something minor but if you're Italian and use pinoli nuts (pine nuts) regularly, you know how expensive they are. The head nut has them for the best price around, they are cheap compared to every other store I've bought them in, even Costco. Not to mention they have an amazing selection of spices, you can buy them in bulk and refill your spice jars at home!
Whoever designed the layout of the Ardmore store on Haverford Ave must have disliked customers. The āaislesā a euphemism for really cramped corridors in a very old ill designed building makes it a challenge to look into product labels and shop. The staff are constantly get on the way murmuring mechanically āsorryā but looking not sorry at all.
The staff look like they donāt want to be there; zero customer service and with snappy responses to any question.
Do watch out for their ācash payment discountsā Their sign states you get a 10% if you pay cash but when you remind them they quickly tell you is 3%, except Thursdays. Why donāt they state that on their 10% sign?
They skid charge you 3.5% if you pay by credit card! With the volume of business they do daily they should NOT pass credit card fees to the customers but they are very greedy.
Are they paying taxes on all that cash they sponge from customers?
Their prices are ridiculously high. They penalize customers for buying small quantities by raising their prices and do force them to buy larger quantities that they donāt need: 1/4 lb $4.99, 1/2 lb $9, 1 lb $17. Also watch their scale as they weigh items!
Overall this establishment is a total rip off with terrible customer service and retail space to boot.
Go there a lot for the wax candy! Good place
