Shoutout to my mans that got me an iced latte as he was closing up. Easily the best coffee I've had in Philly and certainly worth the short walk into the plaza to get it.

I hope this message finds you well. I’ve been a regular at the Bala Cynwyd location for quite some time and have always enjoyed starting my workday with a smoothie and treat from your shop. The previous barista made every visit enjoyable—she was kind, attentive, and always remembered my order (Morning oat milk, 2/3 orange juice, plus protein powder) without needing a reminder.
Since her departure in April or May, my experience has unfortunately declined. The new barista consistently gets my order wrong, even when I explain it clearly. When I politely request an adjustment, her demeanor becomes visibly frustrated—she slams equipment around and handles ingredients carelessly. Despite my efforts to be friendly and understanding, her attitude toward me has been dismissive and unwelcoming.
Today, after some time away, I returned and accidentally forgot to specify oat milk—something the previous barista always remembered. When I realized the drink had almond milk, I immediately acknowledged my oversight and apologized. Still, the response was uncomfortable. She aggressively remade the smoothie, threw in several large scoops of protein powder, and the final result was undrinkable. I paid $11 for a smoothie I couldn’t consume and left feeling disrespected.
I’m sharing this because I truly value your establishment and want to see it thrive, but this pattern has made me hesitant to return. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak directly with a manager about my experience and to discuss how it might be resolved moving forward.

the butter croissant was okay. not phenomenal- just ok. matcha latte is good! the guy in the front of very friendly and helpful :)

We were in the area for a work trip and wanted to grab a quick coffee. Top Hat was on my list.
It’s an unassuming, little space. You’d easily miss it since it’s in kind of a weird place in the building. Plus there’s not really any indicator of it from outside.
Service was quick. I went with an iced mocha which was delicious. It’s on the sweeter side, but it’s the kind of mocha I like. A good, rich drink.

Top hat in plaza is too empty to be cozy/enthusiastic. Coffee good as always, not freshest (made from the few beans remaining in grinder, cant blame with so little turnaround of people). Red beard no longer works. Nice variety of pastries like those present at the Walnut St. Top Hat. Just enter the plaza from the lot and to the right.

Best coffee I've had in North America! The guy knows his stuff, gets a better ratio of espresso to water than any other coffee roaster I've tasted. Beautiful setup, great coffee, knowledgeable owner, can't have it any better.

Found this place on google and was so pleasantly surprised. I needed a place to grab a matcha and work for a while. Theis was a great barista and him and I were able to chat between customers. I was there for a few hours and he greeted every customer with a smile, great service and a quick chat. Many regular customers were happy to see him while grabbing their drinks. Will defiantly be back again!
