Young, inattentive, inexperienced staff. Owner running around yelling instructions. Seeing how disorganized front of house was I don’t want to know about sanitation in the back. The owner was civil when I asked for a refund and showed her the butcher job done on a simple bagel.
I deliver for door dash and the order is never priority waited 15-20 mins for 2 Items meanwhile people who had to just came in were fed before I got the food to deliver. Asked for when an eta so I can contact the customer and just told me it's not ready yet.
I ordered a lox bagel in person at the register from an older petite woman. The price on the paper menu sitting on the register said $5 (if I recall correctly). I was charged $8 or $9.
As my bagel was being prepared I asked a young teen who took over the register about the up charge. She asked if I got anything else or added toppings and I said “no, I got it as it is listed”. She rang up the same order and yup it came to the same price I was charged.
The older woman who rang me up came into the conversation. She said the price on the paper is wrong/old prices, took the menu off the counter and didn’t apologize. She stated the $8-9 charge was correct. I replied it’s no use in disputing the charge since the sandwich was made and suggested they put the updated menu on the counter.
As I’m walking out the door I hear the same woman say out loud to whom I suspect was other workers “all that for $3”. Of course I turned around and replied “absolutely, it’s $3”. And continued walking out. I didn’t hear if she replied after my comment.
Now for the food review…..
Since when does a lox bagel come with no capers or onions? The lox is advertised as any style bagel, cream cheese, smoked salmon, and tomato.
My first experience at this “neighborhood staple” was surely my last. Perhaps I should stop by randomly to see if the same outdated falsely priced menu is still on the counter.

Pass on the chicken noodle soup. Thr chicken is thick and dried out. Bagels are great. Rumor is they get them from redhouse.

I had a bacon cheeseburger which I understand is an odd item at a bagel and soup place but the burger was amazing. The cheese and bacon were delicious. I would definitely recommend this for lunch!
