This is serious comfort food in seriously comfortable surroundings...
You could taste the warmth and hospitality. The pay-what-you-can was what brought us in but the food was scrumptious...also bought a pecan pie to bring home

These are some incredible people. I’ve never been to a place like this. My wife, three children, my mother and mother-in-law all went here looking for breakfast before Christmas in Bethlehem. The mission of this restaurant is to serve very home-y food while simultaneously helping those in need. We are well for a reasonable price! My kids got served a big slice of humble pie that elevated this experience to more than I could have imagined.

Happy to support this great local project. I can always look forward to consistent comfort food over my lunch break, an welcome and clean setting with polite staff, and an opportunity to engage with their volunteer community. Have brought others me and will continue to do so. I am glad Essential café is here and thriving - what a great idea! Pay what you choose and even donate more, towards a free meal with the purchase of a wooden nickel to help those in need.

I’ve been to the cafe several times. I try to go regularly. Great food, especially their Butternut Squash Lasagna. All of the food, both breakfast and lunch is DELICIOUS!!! Servers and ALL staff are friendly and welcoming. Cozy and clean, to boot!

Great food. Great deserts. Fair and reasonable prices. I have eaten there many times breakfast and lunch. The stuffed French toast is wonderful. Easy parking in the adjoining church lot.

Located inside a very quaint town home, this Cafe is very clean and charmingly appointed. This Cafe is actually a charitable organization with Suggested pricing for their menu items (e.g. pay more or less as you can afford).

Great place to eat fresh food... they cook with fresh ingredients grown in the backyard. Lovely cooks & servers who are all volunteers. Pay what you can and you can pay for another person who can't afford a meal.

I love the concept of this pay what you can café. I was overwhelmed that a post of mine on Facebook was shared like crazy and had an amazing response of people who also adored the idea of what they are doing. I had attended a One World Everybody Eats conference many years ago, and I am so excited that this concept has come to the Lehigh Valley! Great fresh food, and charming volunteers.
