This restaurant is a hidden treasure. The food is excellent every time. The ambience makes you feel at home. If you happen to be there a night when Pete Smyser is playing. You are in for a treat!

We've never dined, and listened, anywhere like it. Intimate, cozy, attentive (but not overly) service, Thai dishes done just right. And to be ten feet away from and guitar/vocal duo, at a conversational volume. A wonderful evening.

This was a very special day for my husband and I. The old Victorian home was very intimate and comfortable. The hostess was polite and helpful. Even though the menu was limited it was prepared individually and very delicious. We were happy we could take our own bottle of wine which I wish more smaller restaurants would do. It’s by reservation only. Our impression was that the owner who is the only chef wants to keep it secluded and special as they head towards retirement. All pastries were homemade and delicious. We hope to visit again soon. Parking is metered.Dietary restrictions: We are pescatarians so the Thai seafood was a great choice for us. Thanks.Parking: The evenings are easier for finding metered street parking. We were able to get a spot near to the entrance.

Hidden Heaven The Cafe' is now called The 221 Restaurant. Still the same family, just new generation with original family still actively participating. Amazing, relaxing ambiance, intimate beautiful and unique dining spaces. Food is off-the-charts outstanding. Folks are friendly, warm and accommodating. I had the fresh spinach salad with the peanut dressing... Oh my goodness! Perfect in every way, portion, presentation, taste and even the lingering after taste sensations. We had the fresh Scottish Salmon.... I NEVER had salmon that was this exceptional... again, beautiful presentation, more than adequate portions, heavenly sensations had my taste buds doing the happy dance with each mouthful. Veggies were done exactly the way I love them, oh my. Then, for dessert, I have never had anything like their chocolate peanut butter pie. They had a fancy name for it but, ohhhhh my goodness! It is different to explain, but when I ate it, it was a wonderful explosion of gentle flavor, not overwhelming, perfect is all that comes to mind and... it was like I was eating flavored air because it was so light but the taste was amazing. We have always had a memorable positive experience over the years we have been there. We even had our son's wedding rehearsal dinner there and had many complements, even repeated years later. It was such a peaceful, relaxing respite from our busy lives. We will be returning soon.

Phenomenal food - the Filet with red Thai sauce was beautifully done! Amazing crab and avocado salad and the raspberry Sacher-Torte was amazing!

I liked this place!221 is housed in a Victorian home and the decor is eclectic and interesting. I peered into the dessert case and was very tempted. There were lots of vegetarian options and our meals were quite tasty. I want to go back!
