We hadn't been in several years. Last time we went, we thought the food and service were good, the ambience meh, and the prices a little high for the experience. But they routinely get such great reviews, we tried again. SO GLAD we did. They've done a great job sprucing it up, and we had a fantastic experience start to finish. The menu is so inventive and ambitious, but not precious. We had the scallop app, beet carpaccio, dorado, short rib, chicken teriyaki, and duck- and every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. We stayed for a good while and didn't feel rushed. We only wish they served decaf. 10/10!

The Choice is the BEST BYOB Restaurant on the Main Line . The Tasting Menu is Evcellent with six separate dishes . Also , the ambiance is wonderful .

Although we have dined at the Choice many times over the years that it has been open, last night was our first time back on 3 years. We stopped going because we always found many of the entrees to be disappointing: attractive to look at but bland and uninspired in terms of the taste, and particularly the fish dishes. Given that the reviews of the food continue to be glowing, we decided to try again but were once again disappointed. The starters were fine (scallops and shredded filo dough, but the entrees were as bland as ever, particularly the seared duck breast with carrot puree, roasted baby carrots, and red wine cherry vinegar sauce, which I chose particularly because it didn't sound bland. The duck was cooked well but the sauce was lacking in any cherry flavor. The carrot puree consisted of a few split pea sized dots scattered around an empty plate that added nothing, and the roasted carrots sticks were not even seasoned with salt and pepper. The service was very good and the appearance of the dining room has been improved, but the food remains disappointing.
