Good food, Good people, great atmosphere for historians and hunters. They have deer heads hanging in the diner eating area. For myself it's great but for the anti-hunter you may not like the view. The food is amazing.

Great food but none of the booths or tables are set up to accommodate a family of 5 we had to spread across two booths to enjoy over meal and our pie which was amazing I would order from here again but it would have to be to go as I don't like having to talk loudly for the kids across the way to hear me as my family is spread out

I was the first customer through the door in the morning. I went straight to the restroom and and there was human feces on the toilet seat. Makes one wonder watch in the kitchen.

We are from Wilmington DE and passing thru to visit family. Our hotel recommended McDonnells. Their special that night was stuffed roasted pork loin (absolutely delicious). I also ordered the Peanut Butter Cream pie to go and it did not disappoint! The place is eclectic and homey. The wait staff is very attentive. I recommend that you get the mini potato pancakes with sour cream for an appetizer. Thank you.

I am a long time patron of mcdonnells and usually its amazing but the last couple times the service has been horrible just two days ago i took my family of 4 there we sat down and were never waited on or spoken to 2 other tables came in after us and they were waited on promptly we got up and walked out and not one employed ever said a word to us.. I was annoyed and felt very disrespected i can promise you i will never go back.. Went pinkys and we were greeted immediately with 4 hellos and welcome seated and waited on immediately...

Walked in, waitress told us sit wherever we’d like. One girl took our drink order and never came back. All the waitresses are standing around cackling like hens and no sense of urgency. Two of them watched us walk out and I told them their service sucks. No apology offered. I myself am a waitress and I would be embarrassed if people walked out with no service. Headed to the Peanut Bar, where the service is awesome 100% of the time.

My favorite diner. Good food....American diner fare. The waitstaff is friendly and service is usually prompt, although it does get busy at times and there may be a little wait, but there are always tables available. It's a very popular spot with the locals. There is off street parking available, so you don't have to feed the meters. I definitely recommend it. My favorite is the fish & chips !
