We have eaten Indian food all across the country and Jewels of India has the absolute best chicken tiki masala! It has the best flavor, plenty of sauce and chicken and the spice is perfect! We love coming here for their weekend lunch buffet and for dinners throughout the week. The staff is friendly and very attentive. And for some odd reason, water tastes differently coming out of their metal cups! Ohhh and the naan!!!! So good!Vegetarian options: All the paneer and veggie options my daughter has tried have been delicious.Kid-friendliness: The restaurant is never very busy and there’s plenty of room for kids and familyWheelchair accessibility: Street parking, accessible from sidewalk

PASSAGE TO INDIA is a new restaurant in the location of Jewels of India. We happened onto the restaurant while strolling and shopping in downtown Carlisle. We enjoyed warm and spicy Indian Masala Tea, wonderful Shrimp Biryani, Naan and delicious Butter Chicken with a huge bowl of Basmati Rice. The chicken was boneless. The atmosphere is pleasant, the food was amazing with generous portions and I'm looking forward to returning again, soon!Highly Recommend!

Sadly it is closed down by the health department for now. I hope it goes back being better than even before though! I love this pace

The food was excellent. There was only one server but she was prompt comingbto the table, serving us and checked on us frequently. The experience was thoroughly enjoyable!

I'm sorry to say I no longer really like jewels of India. The last time I ate here I believe I had food poisoning. Although I've had some good times at this place and some very good meals the quality just continues to go downhill I suppose I will have to find a new Indian restaurant.:(

Your first impression is that it’s a jewelry store but once you come through the door and the warm, delicious smells of authentic Indian cooking hit you, you definitely want some of the yummy goodness in that kitchen! Hostess was very courteous, the food was delicious and made according to MY spice tolerance. Would definitely visit again!

This place has been consistently excellent! They make some really great naan, but the Tikka Masala is to die for. Careful on your spicy levels! I don't think it tastes as good above medium spicy as it sacrifices flavor for heat.

Firstly, I’d rather give 4.5 stars, but google doesn’t allow that, and also this place deserves to have every seat filled.Came in at 3:30 on a tuesday afternoon. Was seated instantly. The front of the building is somewhat unsightly, but the dining area is very heavily and well decorated. No music and we were the only ones there save for staff, so the quiet was a little odd.We got service immediately and our server was very friendly. Ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer ($12.95). Portion was somewhat smaller than I expected, but it was very good. Creamy and the shrimp was not overcooked. I ordered the Lamb Dahiwala ($20.95) which came with basmati rice. Very good portion size and incredibly delicious. We were offered 4 “spice levels”, mild, medium, spicy, and extra spicy. I went with medium and wished I went with spicy, but the meat was tender and the gravy was fantastic, plenty of herbs and spices gave it an authentic flavor. We also ordered the Butter Chicken ($16.95 [I think, price isn’t on the online menu]) spicy. Also came with basmati rice. The chicken was very tender and the gravy was creamy and the perfect level of spice. This is definitely for anyone that might be nervous about trying a new culture’s food. We also ordered a side of roti ($2.50) to sop up our gravies. Fresh, crispy, buttery, perfect.Overall, this restaurant was fantastic and definitely needs more attention. For anyone that is scared about trying a new culture’s food, I say this is probably the place to dip your feet in and try.The reason I knock it down a half star is there were a handful of flies that were bothersome. The place was very cleanly, so maybe this was an anomaly? Altogether, great place, would go back.

Great place to eat! We each ordered something different and shared our dishes. The Chana Masala was delicious!

Had my first visit with this place today. The food is absolutely phenomenal, I went with the extra spicy option as well. The service was quick, the environment is interesting, and the staff is friendly! Definitely a go to.

A Tuesday 6 pm, 2 other people already eating. Waited to long to be seated. Too long for ordering. Soup took 15 minutes at least. Not impressed at all with the service. 3 stars may be too many...The food was excellent, and I recommend it for that, but don't expect quick service.

Food lacked the flavor that it usually has; naan was burnt. not the cleanest when entering (dine in service was not available)

I am very disappointed in this place.. I am from India and this may not be the real quality Indian food - it will work for the area as. It many real Indian people around ordering from them... they buy frozen lacha parathas and just heat them... they use frozen vegetables and not the fresh ones... have you looked inside the kitchen? The phone keeps ringing ... no one answers it ... very old decor... I would not come back unless the management changes. I own a business myself, Covid did hit us, but we never compromised on the quality. Customer comes first!

Some of the best Indian food we have had ever! We order take out or dine in at Jewels of India about once every other month. The food is always fresh, hot, and delicious, and the portions are big enough for 2 to 3 meals. I highly recommend the Butter Chicken and Palak Paneer. OMG, and the rice is AMAZING (seasoned with cardamom)! Lastly, they have wonderful customer service and the owner, C.C., is great, he'll check up on you at your table if he's there.

Disappointed that I wasn't able to try your food today for lunch. The lady at the front desk has a terrible tone speaking to potential customers. I soon as we walked in, she said " You're going to have to wait." No hello, no welcome to the restaurant, nothing. I looked towards the back dining room and the lights were off. ? I just said " We'll go somewhere else then." I think she was then trying to say she was the only one working as we turned to the door. If that was the case , I'd close the restaurant for the day. You can't expect good food in that situation. Maybe I'll try another day. But she really needs to reevaluate her attitude.
