I read some amazing reviews on social media which prompted me to stop in here for dinner on a Wednesday night. The place was sooo packed, there was only 1 seat at the bar, which I got. Steve, the bartender did a great job handling that busy bar and all the service bar tickets coming in from the restaurant. He was friendly (in his own way) and very helpful with the menu. He definitely described the various dishes perfectly! The food I had was excellent! It was all freshly made with fresh ingredients and tasted great! Lots of food tho, so bring an appetite! Great prices on food and cocktails too! Definitely will be back!

Nice little jem in Carnegie for an upscale meal. It isnt a big restaurant so definitely make reservations.

I was looking for a lunch spot. However I didn't know that this was an upscale restaurant. The prices were extremely too high. I wind up getting two appetizers, a mocktail and call it a day. Not to say that the food was nasty was actually pretty good. However, I just wasn't expecting to spend that much money on a late lunch

Carnegie? Really?!Absolutely!!!I have enjoyed dining at 131 on numerous occasions. I am always delighted by the amazing kitchen, gracious service and knowledgeable, interactive barkeepmanship. This is a gem in the otherwise anthracite-encumbered restaurants in the South Hills.

This was my second visit to 131 and it was as memorable as the first in a very positive way. The place is located in the center of Carnegie which adds instant value. Historically, Carnegie is known for its central role in the steel and coal industry. It's had a rough go of it with the collapse of said industries and has experienced some economic hardships over the years. Today though it seems to be making a welcomed comeback. When you drive down Main Street and the downtown area you see plenty of new businesses and restaurants popping up and 131 is proudly part of that resurgence. The service and menu combine to provide for an experience that easily meets the price point. The decoration could do with some upgrades. They have prints of old England underground posters on the wall and wooden giraffes in the stairway which seems out of place and context. I would recommend they capitalize on the history of Carnegie and decorate in a theme that pays tribute to the area, industry, and, of course, the people. Ok, rant over. The food was delicious all around. The Brussels Sprouts were crispy and delicious. The wasabi sauce added a perfect zing. Each of the mains we had were shared and devoured with some leftovers remaining despite the generous portions. . The drinks were high quality as well. This place is one of my favorites. I do hope they redecorate. Regardless, I'll keep coming back. Enjoy!

I have always loved this place. I'm born and raised in Carnegie and it's so nice that 131 brings a more upscale restaurant to Carnegie. I've been here over a dozen times and I enjoy my food each time. The flavor combinations in each dish are one of a kind. My only recommendation is to add atleast one basic traditional dish to the menu for picky eaters since there is always one person in every group who prefers a plain menu item.

The food and our server were excellent, but the hostess was very abrupt and unfriendly when I spoke to her on the phone and when I arrived at the restaurant. We had the roasted Brussels, halibut, and summer seafood bowl. Also had the blood orange cosmo - tasty, but a small pour. We sat inside, but I'd recommend sitting outside on the top porch if possible.

Its really exciting to see local restaurants of this quality. The drinks were really well crafted, and our entrees were fantastic. They serve cavatelli with just about every dish, as they should be because they're delicious. I had the pork chop, which was a beautiful medium-medium well.

Delicious food and nice atmosphere! My boyfriend brought me for my birthday. He had the steak, I had paella and they were both fantastic!

Absolutely amazing. We've lived in Carnegie for two years now and have even meaning to try 131 East. We could not have been more impressed. Everything from the appetizers to the cocktails to the dessert was perfect. Do yourself a favor and get the short ribs! The one minor thing we didn't like was there was no physical menu - it's only online through here and/or a QR code. We were hoping for a traditional menu, but that was the only minor drawback. We can't wait to go here again (and again and again).

This was a pleasant surprise! Nice vibes, nice location, good food! We wanted a nice, up-scale/fancy place, and we got what we wanted! Drinks: -blood orange cosmo: very nice! -my dad really liked his Malbec margarita, and enjoyed the rhubarb margarita too, although it was very tart. Appetizers: -I alway order brussel sprouts when I see them on a menu, so I'm a snob. These were VERY good, highly recommend! -the fried cheese: meh, basically just fancy mozz sticks. Kinda bland Entrees: -I got the halibut which was PERFECTLY cooked (and that's not easy!) It came with orzo risotto which I didn't really like. I felt like it was really heavy and it just didn't go with the beautiful fish! My dad ate the rest of my orzo and he thought it was good though. -my mom got the paella and she liked it. I thought it was tasty too, but it didn't have much spice and it definitely didn't have any crispy rice--so I'm not sure it counts as paella. It was a good seafood rice dish, but it was not paella. -my dad got the steak and he loved it.

It’s somewhat upscale version of American cuisine. People in our group really enjoyed the meat choices. My salmon was good but not extraordinary. I would recommend this place for nice dinner with coworkers

This is a well hidden gem in an unlikely place: Carnegie PA. High end fare that is prepared with loving care. My 93 yr old mother, who is very difficult to please, raved about the short ribs, and the server was most patient and kind. I had a bolognese that instantly transported me to the Tuscan hills. This chef is for real. And regarding my opening cocktail, the bartender was happy to play along with me as we concocted a remarkable cross between an old fashioned, a Manhattan and a sazurac. It was delicious!

Hadn’t been there for awhile so had dinner last night. The food and service were good, but a few items really bothered me that I had not experienced at this great restaurant in the past. We were not offered a menu and had to scan a QR code to view it. Wine selection was lean, only 2 chards and 2 cabs. Had not heard of either of them. Since they were served by the bottle we could not sample them. As an alternative my wife then asked for asked schnapps and they were not sure if they had any. Asked for some bread and was told it is not on the menu. When the entree was served I was asked if I needed anything, requested parmesan cheese, received a few tablespoons in a small cup and later found out I was charged $2.00. Thus is a Carnegie Restauant getting AAAA aka cart prices. Since we decided not to return I left a nice tip. I was thinking about deducting the cheese from the gratuity but thought that would be as classless as charging for it. We have other local dining experiences available where we have full menu choices and not N & D’d.
