Rita's Italian Ice

Rita’s is the local Water Ice chain (you may call it Italian Ice) that also serves ice cream, custard, milkshakes, and more.

A small is always enough for me, and often too much. Every Rita’s gives free water ice on the first day of spring.

I was really disappointed with my experience tonight. The store hours online clearly say 12–9 PM, so I was excited to arrive in time—only to be turned away at 8:50 PM by two employees who didn’t want to work anymore. I understand that 8:50 is close to closing, but if you're going to turn customers away before 9, the open sign shouldn’t be flashing, all the lights shouldn’t be on, and the website shouldn’t list a 9 PM closing time. It was a disappointing experience.

We arrived at 9:39pm and this location was closed and lights were off. Map location says it closed at 10pm.

Rita's on Silverside, had friendly service, a treat for the dogs, lemon water ice was good, sugar free tangerine had no flavor and when confronted with that statement all I got was a oh, sorry.

The guy serving was so unfriendly that I almost asked him if I should just go to another location. Need to work on your customer-facing employees friendliness and professionalism.

I was wanting a nice treat to end my day and I was actually eying a different Rita's on the DE side of the state line. However, as I was going down Concord Pike, I happened to catch a glimpse of this particular Rita's. I decided to stop here because it also appeared to have a small inside seating area.
Rita's focuses on two items and combinations thereof - Italian ice and soft-serve custard. It's simple but very tasty. I like the soft custard as it's smooth and creamy and light. My only nit-pick is that I wish they had strawberry-flavored custard. Would be interesting to have that paired with their strawberry ice flavors. Their Italian ice is very juicy and tasty and I love the flavor of their mango ice. They have a variety of flavors that rotates as well as seasonal flavors. Gelatis are one of the best ways to experience both as it's layers of both the Italian ice and their custard which blend together nicely (so much so they also offer the two blended together as a drink).
This particular location has a small dining area inside with a couple tables and a couple tables outside. Nothing much but if you want to enjoy your treat right there, it's possible. The service I had today was great. The person manning the counter had a great personality and was very personable.
If you are wanting a cold treat but maybe not the usual ice cream,
hunt down a local Rita's and give their fare a try.

girl closed the store 45 minutes before the hours on their website say, horrible service, then death stared our car as we pulled out no wonder they never have any business09/06/23

I visit here just about daily, as I have to walk a few miles for exercise, and to reward myself, I stop here for a treat. The store is clean, with indoor and outdoor seating, the advertised flavors are always available, and the most important thing, the young people serving me are attentive, courteous and friendly. (I also had a nice chat with the manager, an entertaining fellow who is doing a great job running things.) So my experience has been excellent, and has motivated me to continue my exercise routine. Just left at 9:45 pm because girls said they were closed. Hours of operations says 10 PM. Thank God for Brusters… they will always have my business now!!
