This place would be much better if they had more lighting at night in the dining area. It's TOO dark. You can't see what you're eating very well. The chairs and tables are wonky or broken. There is menus used to try and keep them level. The carpet at the entrance is rolled and ripped this is a trip hazzard. The parking lot needs cleaned during the times it snows. Please clean before someone slips and falls.

I loved the old Golden Gate. Best bang for your buck Chinese-American food. Once the New Golden Gate opened, it took a month or two for them to gain their footing. Now, they have it down pat. The food is delicious, and the price is nice. The fried rice (ask them for the old recipe or 'brown') is the best I have had. Same as the old recipe, too. The Gen Tso chicken is usually crispy, and the sauce isn't too sweet. Don't get this confused with a high-end Chinese restaurant like Sesame Inn (my favorite), but the food is much, much better than most small Chinese restaurants in the area, and the price is fair in that regard. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Jefferson Hills, Pleasant Hills, and Clairton area. I think I'm going to get some this weekend!

When they reopen back up, I start going back up there ,I get the same thing every time, shrimp egg foo young, and it was good with big shrimp, I went up there about a month ago, I don't know who's in the back cooking, get home my fried eggs was sitting in a bowl of cooking oil floating, couldn't find no shrimp, look like it was a half a cup of peas and carrots, I don't think the old dude that was cooking is back there anymore? think he's gone?but I won't be back no more, cuz that egg fool young was horrible, I will be going back up route 51 , the patties was floating and cooking oil

Most importantly, the staff was rude. I drove 35 minutes for this meal just because Golden Gate has traditionally been soo good. I ordered shrimp with lobster sauce (its still in my refrigerator) it was gross. No shrimp, just artificial crab meat in a liquid. I asked for 2 shrimp fried rice and I received one. I also eat rice daily and this was more so old yellow than anything else.I was warned, but I didn't listen. Highly disappointed. There's not too many places to eat in Clairton and the attitude of the staff alone has deterred me from returning. They also told me my order would be done in "10 minutes", I arrived "17 minutes" after placing the order and still had to wait.No hospitality at all. Do better.
