It is a shame because the karaoke DJs are awesome and I have met some amazing people. And the food is excellent for bar food (no good vegetarian selection but it is an Irish pub lol). But the service/bartending is just consistently crap if you are not a regular. You will wait hours while the older blonde bartender chats with men at the end of the bar. My partner and I love karaoke and this is the only place around our new home with karaoke on Saturday, and we have tried this place multiple times. We both work in service industry and always tip (except this last time) at least 20%. We get it.
But I have had multiple issues with the service at this place, but I have not reviewed because I thought it really was a fluke the first few times. But now I believe if you want to drink, then go support somewhere friendlier.
The other week was my birthday and both bartenders told me they could not give my partner and I another round because we had each had a double when we came in. We came in ordered a shot, and they don't use shot glasses so it is just an eye ball of a typical whiskey glass - and normally I'd say that's a good thing, but again they don't pour if they don't know/like you. So we ordered one round and it was barely and so another.
We each sang a song for karaoke - so 45 min later we wanted another round and got told no we'd already had 4 glasses. Yeah it was also my birthday. We were happy and smiling and actually just came from my birthday dinner and just wanted to celebrate.
Sorry it hurts me because I really love supporting local business and my community, but this place is elitist and doesn't deserve your loyalty.

How can you not like a place like whose origins started in 1876 and once likely accommodated Al Capone after a stint in Graterford Prison?!
Patty, our server and bartender, was so sweet and fun. She recommended the patty melt though I think she is biased 😉. My wife, son, and I enjoyed the food and the character of the place and its customers 👍🏻
