Pongal Thalai Vazhai Virunthu 2026 ( Pongal feast) was very bad. Rice was undercooked and many side dishes had gone bad (spoiled). Was so disappointing.

First time and had FANTASTIC meal and service at Tamarind.
To begin, my friend eats gluten-free and dairy-free (not to the point of cross-contamination dangerous, but just eating it directly) and so she was a little apprehensive about finding delicious good food that didn’t have any of that in it.
But from the start, our waiter Ravi could tell her from any and everything on the menu what it had in it and what was gluten or dairy free. (That was a big feat considering they have a substantial menu with lots of items!) That was great, but even better he went out of his way to make us a free appetizer gluten- and dairy-free (pakora) and giving it to us just as a kind gesture! Then, throughout our meal, he was careful to make sure the other waiters knew that we were eating gluten- and dairy-free so that if they offered anything else, it would fit that. That was so considerate of him.
Even outside of that, there were still plenty of dishes we could eat that were gluten- and dairy-free, and we ordered one of the biryani dishes, lamb Rogan Josh, and some roti that were all completely gluten- and dairy-free. All of it was DELICIOUS. No watered-down, Americanized Indian food here - they were bold flavors with subtleties of seasoning and cooked right. I so enjoyed the lamb Rogan Josh. And the helpings were large – one dish would have fed my friend and I completely, so with two dishes we had plenty to take home to enjoy later.
Towards the end when I was paying the bill, the staff member found out it was my birthday and offered a free piece of cake (he warned that it was Indian-style cake and so a little bit different). He offered any flavor I chose, and I went with the mango – it was different and delicious. It was not gluten- and dairy-free, so at one point when he was bringing it, Ravi, our waiter, intercepted him and quickly explained that we were gluten- and dairy-free – I so appreciated that. Ravi was on it and wanted to be very careful to help us. However, I explained to him that I could eat the dairy and gluten, even though my friend couldn’t. And eat it I did.
Later, heading out the door, my friend, and I tried to take a selfie in front of the “Keep calm and curry on” sign. We were failing miserably and laughing about it when another waiter saw us through the door and gently came and offered to take it for us. It was another kind and considerate gesture!
Overall, it was a wonderful time with delicious food and exceptional staff. Which equals a 500/100 win.
Go yourself.

Always smells so delicious in the restaurant 🙂
Amazing Butter Chicken, so creamy and smooth. My favorite biryani. All of the street food and fried sides like samosa are good and worth it, but you can skip them to keep costs down.
This place doesn't have the best prices of Indian food but it's average or lower for the area and they have a super full menu, I'll literally never get to try everything.
Service has always been good and friendly even when the place is packed, and you can order take out. But if you do sit in, the restaurant is set up in a way that a server will always be in reach, though they might be busy. Even so, staff is friendly and will talk you through your options if desired. I've had to wait a bit to ask for the check, but otherwise never had any problems. Do note that this place does a lot of business.

Wonderful experience. This was the first time eating here and it did not disappoint. The butter chicken, Lamb Kadai and garlic naan were absolutely amazing. An explosion of flavors. We even tried the Gulab Jamun. A very unique but delightful dessert to finish the meal. The service was phenomenal. Highly recommended.

I would give food and service 6/5 stars if I could. Butter Chicken was the best I’ve ever had. Appetizers were unique and delicious.

Whomever is giving this place bad reviews is out of their minds and haven't travelled much. Their food is OUTSTANDING and easily the best in Western PA.

I stopped by Tamarind Indian Cuisine while in Pittsburgh looking for a quick bite. I ordered the shrimp pakoras, which came out to about seven tiny pieces of shrimp for $12. The portion was surprisingly small, and when I got the takeout box, it felt almost empty for the price. The food itself was fine, but definitely not worth it for what I paid. The prices on the Google review menus were not accurate.
On the positive side, the staff was friendly and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Overall, though, I left disappointed... But flavors were decent.
Amazing place with a tasty food, we got the chicken biriani and the Keema Naan, it was absolutely delightful. The staff is attentive and super friendly.

You can tell they take their time with their craft. This food is excellent and the Friday and Sunday buffets are super good too 😋

I've lived all around the world. India, Africa, Asia, Europe, South America and their curries are truly stunning. I am not just saying that either. For Butler County, this is superb!

The waiters were lovely and quite helpful. Came with my three children at lunch time who were a bit skeptical of trying such different foods. However, we all left pleased. I should add this was the first time any of us had Indian food. Complimentary "crackers" and dipping sauce is served to each table. It was neat to try... but we didn't love the taste. All the food comes out on/in beautiful dishes which adds to the entire experience. We had the: *Garlic Naan- WAY TOO MUCH garlic... but great flavor when you scraped it all off. *Tiki Masala- the winner of the day. It was sooooo good! *Chicken 65- 2nd best food to the Tiki Masala. VERY good! And not bad as a cold, leftover (unlike the Tiki Masala). *Potato Bhaji- a puff pastry with potatoes and what looked like peas. The pastry was "neat".... but the potatoes were too different for us. I would not order this again. And, although my son wanted to order the Achari Kebab, the waitor said that it was spicy and he suggested (borderline kindly bullied) he get the Kalmi Kebab. These were our least favorite as drumsticks really aren't our thing. If we were to desire eating Indian food again, then I'd come here. But, I don't think Indian food is our "thing".
We order from here a lot. A mix of direct order, door dash, Uber eats, etc. Their food is always fantastic! But the heat level are less to be desired. I like very spicy food. Today I ordered food and asked for as spicy as you can make it for the ones that didn't have an option on uber eats, and the ones that did, I also chose the spiciest option. They all had the spice level of a scrambled egg with no seasoning. The food was amazing, as usual .. but I was really looking forward to some heat. So my only call out is, I assume it's whose working, or maybe they pre cook food at the lowest spice level.
So I loved the food, but dang it, I wanted some heat and got none. That was disappointing. Minimally chickn or Kentucky fried chicken, or many other places would have given the heat I wanted.
Loved all the small twists from the typical indian cuisine and everything was executed very well. Thoroughly enjoyed the food.
