I just tried Nalan for the first time and it won’t be the last! Their ghee dosa with chutney and sambar was delicious! The dosa was huge. I topped my meal off with a mango lassi, which was equally delicious! Highly recommend!!

Nalan is my favorite Indian restaurant in the Downingtown area. The food is excellent; the staff is friendly, courteous, and helpful. The menu offers a nice variety to suit different preferences.

We’ve been here twice and the food , service and atmosphere are exceptional.
I’ve tried Indian cuisine for 40 some years in USA and this is the best restaurant so far!

This one hurts to write because this place used to be good. Properly good. The kind of spot you’d happily drop $20+ on their DoorDash Entrees without thinking twice.
But now?
It feels like they’ve completely lost the plot.

Somewhere around the time they changed their packaging to eco-friendly, everything else started slipping. Portion sizes have shrunk noticeably. Paying over $20 for Masala Fried Fish or Shrimp 65 and getting a container that’s barely half filled is just unacceptable.

It feels like you’re being shortchanged every single time.

And it’s not just the portions, the quality has taken a hit too. I’ve had orders where the salmon tasted old, dry, and lifeless, not fresh and tender like it should be. That’s not a small mistake, that’s basic kitchen failure. On top of that, they’ve mixed up sauces with the wrong proteins, which just screams lack of care.

The curries used to have that rich, fresh, aromatic depth. Now? A gamble. You might get flat and tired, like they’ve been rushed out without any pride behind them.

Some other reviews also mentioned that they also noticed a similar decline.
I won't be ordering from here anymore.

Went there for dinner last night and it was the worst experience thus far. When visiting the area [~once every 6 weeks], we try to go to Nalan for dinner and had noticed that the food/service had been progressively declining. Went there anyway and should not have! With the recent acquisitions/partnership with 2 other restaurants, the menu has changed and food was way overpriced, old, over seasoned or tasteless, and cold. Last night was chaat night, and the serving size was a joke. Also, the taste was awful and quality was non-existent. For dinner, the Masala Dosa crepe was probably pre-made hours ago and the filling was dry, overcooked/burnt, and tasteless. The Sambhar was barely warm at best. The other dish, Chicken Korma, gave my partner an upset stomach. Overall service was mediocre as well and had to chase them throughout the meal for service. Will not be going back!

The mixed vegetable pakoras, chicken tikka masala and garlic naan was excellent. We'll definitely be coming back!

Terrible experience — charged me and never served my food.
I placed a pickup order for lunch and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. When I arrived, they said it wasn’t ready yet and asked me to wait. After hanging around for another 30 minutes, they called me to say they couldn’t prepare my order because they were working on a catering order instead.
They wasted over an hour of my time, never served me any food, and still charged my credit card with no refund given.
This is completely unacceptable customer service. They clearly don’t value their customers’ time or money. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Really appreciated the move from plastic to go containers to eco-friendly containers. Good food as always.
