Wonderful little old school dive pizza joint. Owner has been there 50 years and cooked amazing food for us, hot and fresh from the oven. I had a chicken panini and my hubs had a Philly cheesesteak. The place is nothing much to look at, but the guy treated us like family. Will be back next time we come through!
We had the pleasure of eating at Sam's last week on a business trip to Downingtown. He opened the place in 1976 and it maintains that same vibe. My colleague and I both ordered a pizza cheese steak with pepperoni, onions and mushrooms. Wow! The bread and the love that went into making it! Make sure to save room for a stop at Sam's next time you're in town!
Sam’s is where you want to go if you want the best classic. It reminds of another Sam, The Garden Village in West Pittston. I can’t describe it. Nostalgia? Perfect amount of meat and cheese, fresh peppers , lettuce, tomato, and onion. Major thing is the roll. The roll makes or breaks a hoagie, here it shines like the rest. My advice, get the hot and sweet peppers on the side, same with the oil and vinegar. Don’t let someone else’s over/under abundance of condiments dictate...
