I am a first time customer at the Farmhouse Coffee and Espresso Bar, I was surprised about the size of the interior because it looked small from the outside. I went inside and I was amazingly surprised about the very courteous, professional and friendly service. The manager greeted you at the register, apologized for the delay in service and pointed out a kiosk if you wanted to order another way. The displayed of the food looked fresh and like it was just made. I ordered a variety of pastries, and a hot chocolate. The food was fantastic, fresh, and very tasty. My hat off to the manager, service, and care they provide their customers. I will not be a first time customer and I intend to solicit the Farmhouse Coffee and Espresso Bar when I am in the area. You can tell the pastries and other amenities do not look or taste like they were premade or shipped to the place.

My wife died last week and rather than spend mornings alone in my home I've been going out to coffee shops to get away for a while, enjoy quality coffee and breakfast, and just chill in a nice atmosphere. Today I went to Farmhouse even though I've been disappointed numerous times. I arrived at 7 AM for a hot cup of coffee and a scone. The outside temperature was 38 degrees. Inside wasn't much warmer, but it was early and I understand the heat needs some time to warm the place. But all of the overhead fans were running on high and blowing very cold air on the patrons. I asked the barista if she could turn the fans down to low. She said she would ask the owner. I waited 15 minutes then left with the fans still blasting me with cold air. What a wasted trip. The coffee was vile as usual, and I froze while choking it down. I will never return to that place.

I went there to get a muffin and a coffee I asked if they could warm it up the guy that took order said nope never in my 48 years of life have I ever been told nope By a service worker and on top of that the muffin was so small it took me 2 bites to eat it and the coffee was not good and I asked to get a hot coffee iced he also said nope that is ridiculous I won’t be back ever again unless I get a free coffee
Always come to farmhouse coffee when I visit Philly. My daughters favorite place. Now mine. Just didn't get a pastry last time we visited. I had placed a large order, and they missed putting in my husband's pastry. Coffee was good, so that helped. Check them out, fun vibe inside.

The coffee is really great. However, the bakery items are either stale, over-baked, or not fresh that day. This last time was my third attempt to get a decent bakery item and like the other two times it was a disappointment. Do not get the scones, they don’t even offer to heat them up and since they are not freshly baked, it was hard as a rock. I wont ever bother with bakery items again. Honestly, I wouldn’t go here if this place wasn’t so conveniently located for me and they didn’t serve such good coffee. Cute atmosphere on the inside and I appreciate the drive-thru, but the food leaves something to be desired.

I love the Farmhouse — the coffee, baked goods and atmosphere are some of the best in Downingtown. Will is the man, and he always remembers our names and orders. We go there most days of the week for a pick-me-up and love patronizing this business. On the weekends this place is PACKED and I’ve walked out a few dozen times over the last couple years waiting in a line for 10+ minutes that’s not moving. I have been to other coffee shops in the area that will have a line out the door that they get through in less than 5 minutes because they have several shots of espresso lined up ready to go at any moment.

Really want to only say good things about this coffee shop being I love their coffee and pastries but my experience the last ~five times I’ve been here is always disappointing. The customer service is lacking, I feel ignored and now there is a self serve POS system which takes the entire experience to an even less enjoyable level. I’ve been a barista & one of the most joyful parts of the job is getting to know your customers, their orders, talking to them about their day and getting to know them and building that relationship being you see them so often (some even daily) and I have never felt that relationship with this coffee shop even though I come here so often. The person taking my order hardly smiles, there is no feeling of reciprocated gratitude for supporting and being supported and I wish it was a warmer place to grab a cup of coffee. It isn’t hard to find a staff that cares about their job and wants to be there, unless management isn’t inspiring that in their employees. If it wasn’t so convenient ( and sometimes it isn’t- I’ve left without being served on multiple occasions because the service is so slow) I wouldn’t support this business. The coffee shop I worked at, folks wouldn’t even be done checking out and their latte would be ready for them. It just doesn’t make sense to me. This review was inspired by the new self check out system which I despise. Bring back human connection, this isn’t a grocery store.
Edit- after reviewing other negative reviews, I’m seeing past employees complaining about abusive behavior from management. This makes so much more sense now. You’re going to hire a robot instead of stepping up and being a better boss. The customer doesn’t feel supported because the management isn’t supportive. The environment feels wrong because it is. As a business owner who tries their best to make her employees feel appreciated and seen, I won’t be supporting this business any longer.

This place is such a cute atmosphere and we really wanted to love it. The drinks are great but it's hard to get past the fact that they have no way to warm up the food. It seems like such an oversight to open a coffee place with pastries and not have thought to buy an oven of some kind to offer warm food. The pastries sit all day and are hard and stale when they serve them and the staff is pretty rude when you ask about warming up the food, probably because they get asked often. It seems like a very cheap choice by the owners. Sad because the place has so much potential with just a little more attention to what's important to customers (food thats meant to be served warm actually warmed)
