The Orangery Reviews
Lovely venue; dining room delightful; delicious cuisine. We've eaten here many times with friends and guests and they all return! Patio seating in nice weather which we have also enjoyed. BYO..yes! Great service.
Wow... was expecting something great, was sorely disappointed. Where to begin. The atmosphere was nice pulling into the driveway, not far from the commuter train. There were ruins of old foundations from buildings of days past that were interesting. That was the last interesting thing we encountered. The prefix menu included an appetizer, of some sort of cold frittata that was just a weird cold egg dish with an equally cold sage “flat bread” with raw sage leaves. We had an...read full review

The Orangery is a charming and cozy restaurant nestled in the bucolic setting of Glen Isle, just off the bustling Business Route 30 in Downingtown. Owned and operated by head chef Sabrina Lutz and her husband, Paul, this 40-seat enclosed sunporch establishment offers a dining experience that transports guests to another era.
The menu features a five-course set of hearty Tuscan fare that changes fortnightly, ensuring a unique culinary adventure with each visit. Dinner typically begins with delectable Crostini, or savory canapés, such as the delicious Sweet Peppers Crostini or the filling Shrimp Crostini. The Mini Vegetable Quiche, served in lieu of a second course salad, is quite good, although it can be a bit bland.
The pasta course, such as the rich and creamy Gnocchi with Salmon, has been noted as the weakest link, with concerns about the portion size and plating. However, the Chicken Pizzaiola, a variation of the classic pizza-maker style dish, is an absolute delight, with its moist and tender chicken breast, topped with a flavorful sauce of tomatoes, olive oil, oregano, and basil, finished with fresh mozzarella.
While the service is not entirely professional, it is friendly and well-meaning, and has improved since previous visits. The overall dining experience at The Orangery is best suited for those seeking a hearty, homespun Tuscan cuisine in a cozy and secluded setting, rather than a sophisticated Michelin-starred experience.
