What a great experience this place is for hibachi. The chefs are not only good at their craft, but awesome performers as well. They get everyone involved at the table. Awesome food and drinks as well.

I’ve been to Ooka before but this last visit was such a miss. First off, it was freezing- we were seated in view of the thermostats and it was 51°. People were visibly cold and wearing their coats inside. It took 35 minutes for our table to even be acknowledged by a waiter. Once we ordered, they forgot our food and would bring some appetizers out for people after others were already finished with theirs. There’s a difference in the wait staff being busy and just inattentive.

Sushi itself was great. Props to the kitchen staff as always because they’re really holding it together. Everything else was so disappointing.

COCKROACH INFESTED!!! We’ve been patrons of this restaurant for many years and have many happy memories of important family events that we have celebrated but WE WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. We sat at the hibachi station waiting for the chef to begin. Our orders were taken by the waiter, the salads, soups, and appetizers were brought to us. From underneath one of the salad plates a HUGE COCKROACH appeared and walked across the table toward my daughter. We were stunned. This is at 1:00 in the afternoon in a packed restaurant. Waiter seemed very calm, perhaps this is a regular occurrence. I sprung to action and killed the roach with a napkin, my son in law took the balled up napkin to the front hostess to inform her.
She walked back a few times to the table and was solicitous. We debated whether to stay or go but by that time the chef was cooking and we figured whatever was being cooked should be safe enough to eat.
We were sad because we knew that this would be our last meal here. We are not naive. Cockroaches are everywhere and mice too, rats yes. But crawling on the counters in a restaurant indicates that there is a very definite pest problem that is not being addressed.
They removed the price of the kids meal which was $21.00 but in my opinion the entire meal should have been comped. Regardless we never ever plan to eat here again.

Second time I ordered online. And same terrible service. Story. I ordered online at 5pm. Message sad that the ready time is about 6pm. Ok. I come here, it’s 6.25 pm.I know they are busy on Saturdays . But Nothing s ready. Two times manager said that after few minutes everything will be ready. 8 or 9 orders are waiting on the desk. It’s 6.40. I’m still waiting. Do something with online orders. Please!

Spent $100 on food at ooka on an order to go and they forgot the curry and the egg for my curry; when we got home I had a box of chicken and rice. Come on the curry dish is $23 dollars and I got like 50 cents worth of rice and a chicken breast.

Food was mediocre, although it was beautifully presented. The MP$ for the Bluefin Tuna Toro was outrageous for less than an ounce of fish served, a gorgeous piece of fish that looked butchered.

Ooka never disappoints. This visit was for hibachi to celebrate birthdays and it was so much fun! Food was wonderful, servers so friendly and helpful and our cook was so nice and entertaining! Highly recommend!

Been going here for 15+ years and have NEVER been disappointed. Was excited to eat at Ooka immediately after moving back to Philly from CA, so it was extremely worth it and very good
