“I always have a fabulous dining experience at this restaurant. My favorite dish is the Gopdol Bibimbop, for sure. I always ask for extra spicy sauce. I also love the Dynamite Calamari appetizer and Korean-Fried Chicken, the spicy flavor. Today, I tried the Kimchi Stew, and it was phenomenal!“

“I am obsessed with this place, have been ordering here almost once a week. The butternut squash is some of the best I've ever had. And the pastrami sandwich is amazing, I didn't even like pastrami before I tried theirs. My first visit, I got soup with bread, and called back an hour later asking if I could purchase an entire loaf. Their cranberry walnut bread is unmatched.“

“This location is always busy which is a means they have great food. And even though they are busy they handle the lines and crowds very quickly, which is a good thing! Their food is always good. I just signed up for the drink plan so I’ll be there more often.“

“I had a gyro which I enjoyed. There are several types available but I had the gyro with beef. My dining companion had a cheesesteak and enjoyed it. She said that it was not as good as a Philadelphia cheesesteak but for the suburbs it's pretty good. We had lunch at 1 p.m. on a weekday and the table was immediately available. We were not rushed to leave even though they close at 2 p.m.. the food came quickly. The wait staff was attentive.“

“The food was good, is Olive Garden, so I expect the food to be good. The service was very, very good and relaxed this time, compared to many previous visits when the server rushed you to order and bring the salad and a minute later your meal and constantly checking to bring you the check.I will say go early so you can enjoy your meal!“

Common Grounds Cafe Cafe • $
606 E Main St, Lansdale

“I recently had a breakfast meeting at Common Grounds Café with other former board members of Manna on Main Street. The Café supports Manna’s free, 14-week “food service training to employment” program for the economically disadvantaged in our community. To begin, the food was exceptionally good, and plentiful. I and one of my dining partners both took home enough leftovers for another meal. (We both had oatmeal mixed with fruit and nuts.) Chef Lisa also accommodated all of my food concerns (a food allergy, and sodium limits.) However, the great food and service were only part of my reason for being so pleased with my meal. I also appreciated that my breakfast helped support the job training program, to help the trainees become qualified for food service jobs – my “second” meal that day. Finally, I had the opportunity to see the sophisticated pantry and market Manna operates, including software that makes it easier for those whom Manna serves to select their food quickly and efficiently – my “third meal”. A staff member with whom I had worked gave me a tour as a Board alumnus, showing pride in what Manna has accomplished at the North Penn Commons location since my Board term had ended in 2016, when North Penn Commons opened its doors. After I got home, I increased my charitable donation to Manna. I was very impressed not only by its excellent stewardship of financial donations, but also by how sophisticated it has become in distributing the food donated by supporters, to provide it to those in need in our community, “that all may be fed”. When North Penn Commons (the location of Common Grounds Café, and home to four nonprofits opened in 2016, I wrote (paraphrasing Benjamin Franklin) that “North Penn Commons has given Lansdale a community, ‘if we can keep it’”. After my meal and tour, 3 years later, I am pleased that my hopes have been satisfied.“

“It was the monumental sixth anniversary of my son's grand entrance into this world, and for reasons beyond the comprehension of mere mortals, he harbors a profound affection for the culinary coliseum known as Olive Garden. By fate or sheer architectural strategy, a new gladiator arena (read: Olive Garden location) had risen from the ground along our daily chariot route. Deciding to indulge his imperial whims, we ventured forth for a dinner celebration. The evening was marked by the presence of our waitress, a lady of such attentiveness and grace that she must have been the patron saint of unlimited breadsticks in a past life. In a covert operation rivaling any espionage thriller, I whispered to her the occasion of our visit, and she enlisted me in the high-stakes decision of selecting a dessert fit for a young emperor. My strategic choice: a cake, not just any cake, but one bedecked with strawberries, knowing it would appeal to his royal taste buds. The climax of the evening arrived with the ceremonial singing of "Happy Birthday," a surprise attack that left my son both astonished and ecstatic. I couldn't help but bask in the strategic victory of having our birthday serenade precede any other potential claimants to the birthday throne, preserving the uniqueness of his celebration. Indeed, moments later, another birthday was celebrated, but in the shadow of our own revelry. Thus, we left, our spoils of war in hand (a mostly devoured cake), grateful for the tactical foresight of our waitress and the culinary stronghold that is Olive Garden. In the great arena of family dining, this Olive Garden proved itself a colossus among mere eateries, granting us a victory in the annals of birthday history.“
