Tried them first at a festival. Learned they were local to where I lived and had to go back to try more a week later. Great portions enough for 2 or more. Will be back for sure

I dined with a large group and we all enjoyed the jollof rice and plantains with various proteins. I had the lamb, and the fish smelled amazing so I might try that next time. The atmosphere was welcoming and pleasant, perfect for a fun meal with friends.

Tried Mawa’s African Cuisine for the first time today and I’m honestly blown away. The flavors were bold, perfectly seasoned, and unlike anything I’ve had before. Every dish had its own unique taste, but they all came together so beautifully. You can tell this is food rooted in culture and care. I’ll definitely be back for more.

Out of all African cuisine (trust me MANY) I’ve ever had, this place takes the #1 spot. They haven’t missed in all the time that I’ve been ordering, and the portions are always so generous.

I ordered from here on DoorDash right before closing — clearly that’s where I messed up. You would think a business would still care about the quality of the food they send out, but clearly not. I ordered chicken and received fish… fish that I don’t even eat. The plantains were terrible — some were hard as rocks while others were rubbery.
$48 for trash.
As a first-time customer, they got my $48 once, but they could have made so much more by keeping me coming back. Unfortunately, too many businesses focus on the short term instead of the long term. Never again.
1000% do not recommend save your money and go with a place that actually cares

Listen… I tried the dibi with attiéké at Mawa’s Kitchen and they snapped. The lamb was smoky, tender, and seasoned just right, and the attiéké pulled everything together. Flavorful, filling, no regrets — I’ll definitely be back to run through more of the menu.

I went to Mawa's African Cuisine on Valentine's Day with my cousin, and honestly it was such a great choice. The food was so good that we were quite for a minute just eating.
We ordered the attieke with dibi lamb and wow, the lamb was tender and seasoned to perfection. The attieke was light and fluffy, everything was balanced so well. You can tell that it was made with care and real flavor. We also got the bissap juice and let me tell you it was amazing (one of my favorite drinks).
The whole experience felt warm and comforting. You can taste the authenticity in the dish, I am already planning on visiting again!! This place is definitely worth it!

I ordered a vegan dish through Uber Eats and did not consume it due to food safety and labeling concerns.
The container had expiration labels indicating dates that had already passed by the time the order arrived Jan 27th. One label showed a date one day earlier than delivery, and another showed a different date, but regardless of the specific day listed, the label indicated the food had been prepared and held for approximately two weeks, which exceeds standard food safety timelines for prepared dishes.
Additionally, the item labeled as “vegan” appeared to contain visible meat. Because of the expiration labeling and incorrect contents, I did not eat the food.
Even if food is frozen or reheated, serving items beyond their labeled preparation window and mislabeling dietary items presents a risk—especially for customers with dietary restrictions, allergies, or health conditions.
I’m sharing this review for transparency so other customers can make informed decisions.
