I had no plans staying in Erie overnight. Unfortunately some Courthouse delays required me staying overnight. Lol , lost and driving around, I stopped at the Avalon. The courtesy, kindness and friendliness shown to me by the manager and his assistant , almost immediately helped to take the edge off. It certainly made me feel, like I belonged. Funny ha. You know ,strange town...5 hours away from home. Thank You ! Oh...and the bed and pillows are Unbelievable.

Employees we're friendly and helpfulSafety: Not a safe area at night, stay in your room, most of downtown Erie PA is abandoned and sketchy.

Not a bad place for the price compared to everything around it. The front desk staff are all very friendly. I think the area gives it a bad wrap but there is alot of restaurants and bars along the strip. Absolutely NO bed bugs, the rooms were clean. We had one small problem and it was fixed by the time we got back from dinner. I would definitely stay again.Nearby activities: Lots of restaurants within walking distance.

This place is the most disgusting place I’ve ever seen. It is completely fake. There were bugs and blood stains on the mattress. The door had an old chain lock as the only lock. There are no restaurants as advertised. The pictures of the entire hotel are photo shopped. Some are completely fake. DO NOT STAY HERE! You will be catfished! It is especially creepy and unsafe for women and children! Apparently this hotel is known in Erie for being bad. Do not believe the resent good reviews.

We just stayed at the Avalon for the first time to see a show. The front desk staff are awesome and very nice. They were hosting boxing tournaments in their ballroom but it was very quiet in the halls and in our room. The room was very clean. There were no bedbugs. I checked all the bed and under the mattress too. The room was in decent condition and very clean, but the bathroom could use a little TLC -it was clean as well just old. The caulking and shower head could use replacing and a fresh coat of paint could go along way. The alternating hot & cold shower kept things interesting. There is a minimalist coffee service in the morning. You will not find flavored creamers or multiple roast choices here but coffee did taste good. There are mini mr coffee makers in the room. Nothing for tea lovers. There was also an underground parking garage which was nice to have access too. There were a few characters, older gentleman, having an animated conversation in the alley upon our arrival but after we left the theatre no one was around other than theatre patrons, boxing fans, and a few clusters of college kids. We did see frequent police patrols. I would stay again. I've been at chains, comfort inns, quality inns, etc that were in far worse condition. It could be a beautiful facility if they could make a go of the restaurant and bar. I did not see the fitness center but it was listed on the directory.

Analog TV, small. Bedding tired. Bathroom from the 70's. Location was good, plenty around it, not for from the water.

Have visited the Avalon Hotel for the past 10 plus years during Celebrate Erie Days. Friends of ours reserved 5 roo ms 2 months ago for Thursday and Friday. On Saturday they received a text message that the rooms have been canceled for maintenance issues. NOT TRUE!!! I made an attempt for management to contact me and the have yet to do so. After doing some research it appears GREED has got the best of them. So sad as this was our go to place every year. NOT NO MORE!!!

Do your homework and read the reviews to understand what you're getting. The hotel can't be held responsible for the sketchy neighborhood or people hanging around, but be aware that it is, what it is. The parking garage is a nice perk, but it isn't gated or secured. Our bed was comfortable and everything looked clean enough. Glad we were only there one night.

Do not waste your money and time. Worst hotel I’ve ever been in. The lady at the front desk was welcoming and that’s about it. Wet towels are left on the floor. Someone left underwear in the room.

7/2023 BED BUGS, BED BUGS, BED BUGS, Do not stay at this hotel, any good reviews of this place is likely done by the staff. Their is no guest laundry at the Avalon, their is mold, spiders, bed bugs, dirty mattresses with urine stains. When you check in it may be old food in the mini fridge from previous guest, the house keepers have stolen from guest. This is the worst hotel in Erie. The owners don't care about any complaints, they just want your money. The Avalon is a dump. It's an old building with no kitchen or breakfast for guest( I wouldn't eat any food from them if they did serve breakfast to be honest). The Avalon is a known dump hotel in the city of Erie, any good reviews of the Avalon is done by staff, believe me.Rooms: Rooms are not well kept. Several guest had mold in rooms and bed bugs and old food in the fridge when they checked in. Some even had other people's clothes still in them.
