Our dinner at Bar Ronin this week was excellent! The drinks and food were delicious. Upscale atmosphere. The whole dinner felt like a treat. Our server was kind and attentive. They were easily able to accommodate my friend’s gluten allergy. Our server even ran out to catch up to us when I forgot my present at the table. Overall, a real treat for a night out!
Food was...ok. seem like a long wait from appetizer to meal. Server was...eh. she focused more on 1 specific person at the table. music was very loud. Seemed like everyone was yelling. Definitely not what I was expecting. Seems geared toward a younger crowd.

This review is not because I had a single good experience here, but because every time I go to Ronin the food, drinks, atmosphere, and service exceed my expectations.

Nestled in the West Erie Plaza, Bar Ronin is a hidden gem that blends big city vibes with warm hospitality, offering an unforgettable dining experience. The skate-inspired décor adds a dynamic, urban feel, but it's the exceptional service and inventive menu that truly stand out.
At the heart of Bar Ronin’s appeal is its food—a fusion of Latin and Asian flavors that elevates Erie’s culinary scene. The menu changes seasonally, ensuring fresh and creative offerings. Highlights include the **crispy fried chicken karaage** with togarashi and lime, **thick-cut pepperoni & chorizo fried buns** with wasabi ranch, and the light yet flavorful **shishito peppers** with yuzu and seven-spice togarashi. For a more indulgent bite, the **ginger-pork gyoza** with A5 wagyu fat XO is a must-try.
Seafood fans will love the **shrimp ceviche on crispy fried potato** with caviar, while the **A5 Miyazaki-Gyu Japanese Wagyu**, seared on a hot stone with mustard ponzu, offers a truly decadent experience. For heartier plates, the **roasted pork belly ramen** and **crab donburi** deliver rich, satisfying flavors.
Bar Ronin’s inventive cocktails perfectly complement the food, with bold, balanced drinks that cater to every palate. A personal favorite is the **Lonely Rōnin**, a smooth mix of Nikka Coffey grain whiskey, Carpano Antica, Aperol, orange blossom honey, and reduced white balsamic—rich and complex with a perfect balance of sweetness and depth. Another fun one is the **Empress Rickey**, made with Empress gin, elderflower, lemon, and a citrus bubble that literally pops—both a showstopper and a delicious treat.
A standout feature is Bar Ronin's late-night menu, a rarity in Erie, featuring small plates like **crispy tempura** and **yakitori skewers**, perfect for satisfying late-night cravings.
With its ever-evolving fusion menu, outstanding food, inventive cocktails, and hard-to-find late-night bites, Bar Ronin is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a vibrant, one-of-a-kind culinary journey in Erie. Don’t miss this extraordinary experience!

Confusing atmosphere though I like how open the kitchen is. Server wasn't really helpful when we asked about what all of the buzzwords on the menu meant, but was nice enough. Food was absolutely flavorless and just plain weird. A disturbing lack of vegetables on anything suggests lazy kitchenry. I ordered crab donburi which had a blatant lack of crab or even crab flavor. The "crispy chicken" on top was pulled dark meat chicken which was formed into a rough patty then reheated on a flat top. Incredibly unimpressive and was not one bit crispy when it arrived to the table. Just pasty and weird. My wife got Prawn Yakisoba which tasted like kraft mac with shrimp and onions. And the shrimp were cut up, which is a sneaky way to make less feel like more. But you're paying for more. Both meals were far below the flavor and quality I expect in a $30+ entree. I was very disappointed and won't be back. $100 wasted. The photo is our leftovers, what remained after we picked at them for five minutes.

I ordered the chicken karagee and stir fry noodles with sea urchin. The chicken karage was okay, the portion was small for what you pay. The stir fry noodles was so salty, after taking a bite I had to drink half a cup of water. My friend had ramen with pork belly but it doesn’t taste right. It has this taste of burnt. I am a huge ramen fan but this ramen was not it. However I must say the desert and waiter was excellent. We had the taro cake, it was delicious, I think this is the only dish I would come back for.
