Most incredible French Onion Soup I have EVER tasted. And I order French onion soup every time I’m at a new place that serves it. There is no recipe or establishment that can compare with the soup I had at the Beechwood Inn. It was a mission of mine to find the best French onion soup and after 25 years of searching, I can honestly say mission complete.
My son had the Big Wood burger and couldn’t say enough positive things about it.
We grabbed a cherry cheesecake desserts to go. It was also fabulous and you could tell it was homemade with its thick, buttery, graham cracker crust.
Loved the homestyle rustic ambience of both the dining and bar area. The murals/wood carvings are quite unique and add to the country home cooking feel.
Service was quick and friendly.
The total meal was quite inexpensive.
The only thing that disappointed me had nothing to do with the Beechwood inn, but the fact that none of the local Erie visitor guides even mentioned the existence of this place. Shame on them for not listing this hidden gem of a local business.

Had dinner last night.
I paid $13.99 for a steak sub.
I got a rectangular hamburger with two slices of cheese, on half a sub roll.
Their commercials make their food look much better, than the real thing.
One and done, for this place.

My wife and I stopped for supper. I got sirloin tips(medium rare). They came out well done with very little seasoning.

It’s been a few years since we last visited the Beechwood. I remember the food being very good and was excited to have lunch there today with my son. Unfortunately, my “extra crispy” wings were undercooked, my fresh cut fries were barely cooked (had to take them home to cook them more so that they were edible), and my burger was served on a bun so dry that it crumbled before I could take a bite (ended up eating my burger without the bun). I know they’ve changed owners since my last visit, could that explain the change in quality? Or was today an off-day?

Our server was very nice, and in fairness to him we did not mention any of these short-comings to him.

What a truly hidden gem in Clayton, Georgia! Location to Main Street with its delicious restaurants and great shops was less than 3 minutes. At the inn you look out at mountains and hear the birds singing-such an incredible respite from busy city life where we live. The owners have thought of everything-yes, it’s true. Asking Eli how they came about the smallest of details, she said, “we have slept in every room and also listened to guest suggestions”. Her background in the boutique hotel line is evident throughout the property and her friendly husband Marlon shares her vision too. We enjoyed speaking with them, listened to their suggestions for meals and visiting the falls which were spot on. From the carefully chosen background music playing softly, to the rustic yet unique decor- oh and did I mention the comfy king bed with linens which were so soft? Cannot wait to visit Beechwood Inn again, only wish we could’ve stayed longer. Thank you Marlon and Eli for a wonderful stay at your beautiful inn. Steve and Cheryl Smith
