What makes it extra special is the atmosphere: it's set in a beautifully preserved old-fashioned train station, which gives the whole experience a charming and unique touch. “This was our first experience at John Russell's. Our server was Brooke who was absolutely amazing with our large soccer club from Ontario, Canada. Despite what is happening between our two countries one thing is for sure. We love Erie and will always support local restaurants and businesses in the area. Brooke was able to handle our soccer club with ease vs another restaurant close by. She was quick, efficient, friendly and above all else served us with a smile everytime.

“I thought I reviewed this place a few years back when I first visited, but I guess not- so here we go. Lavery is quality run brewpub, with some really tasty beers on tap that span the gap between many different styles and flavors. On my most recent trip with my wife, I got a six beer flight to sample, and was impressed by all the chosen offerings, especially the coconut-laden Divine Intervention and the uniquely refreshing lime and cucumber and sea salt sour.

The place itself is kind of on the darker side and is accented with a lot of wood and wood tones, which is just the rathskeller type of vibe that you want from a classic brewpub experience. There is also a nice patio area if you prefer a lighter experience during nice weather. The staff is attentive and friendly, and the food (which we tried on the last outing there) is tasty and compliments the drinks well. Overall, it's definitely a worthwhile stop if in the Erie area and looking for a nice beer in an enjoyable atmosphere.“
