It is reasonable to state the degree to which you enjoy Ricardo’s is in all likelihood directly proportional to the time you have lived, past or present, in Erie. Ricardo’s is an Erie tradition, but anyone eating here for the first time might wonder why. On the good side, the filets at Ricardo’s are uniformly excellent. That, along with the rigatoni and fried zucchini that arrive before them define what Ricardo’s is known for, and that is the main draw. Word is their spaghetti sauce is also quite good, but I cannot personally speak to that. Then there is the not so good: in our latest visit, the first in several years, our host was clad in cutoffs and a black t-shirt. I don’t expect full maitre d’ attire here, but in my view, this was entirely unprofessional and not in keeping with the Ricardo’s of past decades. Some things never change: the silverware is barely heavier than plastic, salads are chopped iceberg lettuce (and now 95 cents extra to boot), and the brief wine list has no label or price information. I stopped ordering wines and mixed drinks some years ago; all were disappointing. I cannot speak to beer selections. If you have relatives in Erie who want to take you to Ricardo’s, understand that in many cases it has been a part of their life’s experience; the rigatoni, the zucchini and the smell of the filets are all embedded in their sensory history, so go ahead and enjoy it. But if you are visiting Erie on your own, you are more likely to better enjoy other options like Mi Scuzi or, along the waterfront, Shoreline Bar and Grille, Bayfront Grille and Oliver’s. Each has its own vibe and price point, and some are likely to cost you more than Ricardo’s, but each is more likely in my view to provide you with better dining experience and better memories of your visit.

VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!! We went there to place an order to go. Three employees were doing other things, and nobody stopped to greet us nor acknowledge us. We then sat at the bar and could hear someone on the phone. After the person on the phone was done with what she was doing, she apparently went into the kitchen to get someone. The employee came out and asked if we were waited on? We said no and, she grabbed her order pad to take our order (she acted like we were inconveniencing her). I asked to see a menu and she said they are around the corner--so I had to go and grab a menu. Since we seemed to be inconveniencing them, we decided to not inconvenience them more and we left. There was 1 customer eating and two other employees doing other things. They didn't seem to care that we left because nobody said anything. They do get a lot of business because of their delicious food. A locally owned restaurant in Erie had a reputation for good food and being busy always, but their customer service was poor, and they are closed now. Please be more kind and more attentive to potential customers. Valerio's got our business instead.

For our anniversary, we wanted to try someplace that haven't been to lately and we decided on Ricardo's because they were known for some great food and especially steaks. Although it was Tuesday, we decide to make a reservation and that turned out to be a good idea because there was a good crowd there. We both did have the steak - the filet - and they were very good, as was the entire meal and the service was just as good. Everything came out exactly when it should - piping hot and delicious. We had a great meal and the bill was less than I expected, which means a lot these days. I think that we'll be heading back soon.

Mix crowd. Pretty quiet. I've never been to a bar and grill where music wasn't playing. I still couldn't figure out if they even have a jukebox. We were just visiting with family passing thru the town. The crowd i was with suggested this place because you can order food up to 12:30am. Which was true but they burnt my fries and didn't want to do them over although I paid for them. Maybe I'll try the Indian food next time we visit, it's supposed to be really good.

Visiting Erie & this was recommended by a few sites. Usually mom & pop restaurants are the best. The zucchini was amazing (although you had to pay extra for ranch or marinara if you wanted to dip). The side salad dressings were very good (tiny portion even for a side salad). The marinara sauce was too sweet & watery. Couldn’t eat much of my pasta. Meatballs tasted store bought. My husband was excited to taste the filet as many mentioned the special marinade. It was tiny & said it tasted like venison (weird flavor). And lastly, the cheese raviolis had very little filling. It was $100 (without tip) for the four of us (pasta dinner, 2 ravioli dinners & a filet) did have zucchini app..no alcohol. We left hungry. The server was lovely though & service was prompt! As we were leaving the restaurant got pretty busy, so others may like it, but not us.
