Fantastic. Fabulous. I took the walk that the Confederates took to the fence that leads to the Emmitsburg Road. It was a dream come true. And there at the fence I met a Texan who was also visiting the place, a descendant of a Confederate soldier. I took several photos. It was really exciting. I need to go back there next year.
Can't fathom why Lee ordered this most foolish attack. Longstreet should have resisted. Or whacked the senile leader. Their poor intelligence gathering and over-confidence in their own ability lost us 6000 Americans in 30 minutes! Each time I drive up here and walk the field towards Seminary Hill (where the Union Army waited), I feel the helplessness of the attacking soldiers who so courageously marched to their death. The best place to eat in Franklin and Adams county pa..even took our huge family to eat there for Thanksgiving 20.people and it was up $300..and it is all home cooked buffet..great place
