A friend recommended this restaurant and all I can say is we will definitely be back. I'm going to start with the only criticism I have for this place, and that is that it is too loud. I see they have done their best putting noise baffles on the ceiling, but frankly it needs more to absorb the sound in this tight, hard space.
That said, hands down five stars all the way. This is one of the most eclectic and tasty meals I've had in a long time, and I don't really want to tell the restaurant this, but I think the prices are actually pretty reasonable for the quality of what you're getting.
We looked at their tasting menu, but in our opinion, it really was more of a price fixed menu. Basically, for $70, you could choose one appetizer, one entree, etc. It may be a decent deal, but we really just wanted to try a variety, which is how I would define a tasting menu.
We ordered three or four of the appetizers, from the carrots, to the tuna, to the bread, to the polenta, and maybe there was even another, I don't recall. Every one of them was really fantastic. I may pass on the bread next time just because it ended up being heavier and richer than I anticipated, but boy was it all good.
We had a salad that was very fresh and delicious, and also the venison chops. This one I had some trouble with, not because it wasn't delicious, but because I just can't make myself enjoy venison. I guess when I see them standing in my backyard all day, there's something mentally I cannot get over. I did taste it, and it was absolutely delicious the way it was prepared, perfectly cooked medium rare with a wonderful sauce. My one request would be to offer this same dish in a lamb option for folks like me :-) .
Along those lines, they do have a New York strip with their steak frites option, but I would love to see what this chef could do with a really nice fillet.
Wonderful mixed drinks, terrific service, just all around a fabulous experience and look forward to going back.

We were very excited to eat there. It was very disappointing. Food was not great, I ordered a smoked drink and didn't get to see the presentation. I was very let down. 2 out of the 4 of us had an ok dinner the other to not so much. Risotto was under cooked. Grilled shrimp had a seasoning that made them bitter.

Painfully average fine dining. Probably the only “fine dining” choice in Gettysburg. Atmosphere is excellent, food is good to fair. If you have experienced fine dining in such places as Manhattan or Cape May this will disappoint. As a Desert Storm Veteran just a quick note about Gettysburg. Be fore warned it is a gathering point for “patriots”. A large group of people that buy combat boots, wear under armor flag shirts and put stickers on their F150’s, but never served. Btw 2 olives in a Martini? No sir 1 or 3. Even number is bad luck. Which any professional bartender would know.

After walking around Gettysburg trying to find a gluten and dog friendly restaurant we were relieved to find the Sign of the Buck. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly.

This place is a gem. Outstanding in all aspects. Service, Evan was our waiter and was exceptional: friendly, and food was delivered timely. Food was of the highest quality (taste). My wife and I shared all dishes in order of delivery: Beet Salad & Crispy Polenta Bites in a Hot Honey, Smoked Tuna Tartare and lastly Venison Chops (zucchini, bacon-glazed potatoes, blackberry jus). Atmosphere was comfortable save a bit cold as I had one of vents blowing right on me. However not a knock as this place is as near perfect as one can get. Highly Recommend it.

Food and selections behind the bar are wide and excellent. Many items they have in this small town restaurant are not available at fine dining places in large cities. Definitely recommend. Dine at table. Bartenders are order takers and don't have the time for questions.

Not worth the price.
Got the NY strip at 40.00 and it was a grizzly tough piece of meat I was so disappointed. So they took it back and I went for the chicken, thought it would be easy and safe. 34.00 for two boneless skinless breast to yawn at. Unbelievable the gall of charging that kind of money for something that looked like it came from a TV dinner. NEVER EVER AGAIN. I don't mind spending good money for a good meal and that's what I was looking for, only to be sorely disappointed.

Beautiful place with great food. The cocktails are phenomenal. Brunch is a fun time. Music on Monday nights is a good crowd.

Went for brunch and absolutely loved it! I got a smoked salmon bagel, bloody mary, and their amazing dry martini with blue cheese olives. Couldn't recommend it more!

Attention to detail! I haven’t been to an establishment like this in a while. You can tell the chef/owner is a perfectionist. Many hours were spent on interior decor, the menu, ingredients, etc
I’m sure I’ll be coming here again every time I visit

Visited Sign of the Buck while on vacation with my wife. We had a reservation the first night. Simply stated, we went back twice more over the remaining 4 days of our vacation (we ate at both a table and the bar). The food, service, ambience and overall experience were second to none. The staff were incredibly hospitable during each of our experiences. The restaurant does a wonderful job at blending great cocktails and more complex dishes with simpler things like the best smash burger I’ve ever had and fries with a flight of aiolis. Can’t wait to return to Gettysburg and Sign of the Buck.
