Sweney's Tavern Reviews
Myself, my partner & daughter stayed here for 2 nights in mid August 2025, It was an amazing experience and we also had paranormal activity while staying there . We came all the way from Ireland to visit Gettysburg. I would highly recommend staying and dining here. Eryn in the shop was so nice and she had Irish connections. We will 100% return .
Farnsworth has a great ghosty vibe with rich history. However this last stay makes me want to make an honest review. We have stayed there in the past with no issues. Sweney's Tavern offers a charming atmosphere with decor and costumes from a popular movie. The food is largely well-received, with the peanut soup and pumpkin fritters being standout items. Customers often enjoy the pulled pork sandwiches served on cool metal plates with good fries, while the game pie is noted as outstanding. The tavern has a nice vibe, especially during special occasions like a Christmas weekend, and it feels like a cozy local pub. While the staff can be friendly and helpful, service may sometimes be inconsistent; some customers have experienced rudeness inside, but the outside bartender is frequently praised as a Rockstar. The menu includes flatbreads, burgers, and fish and chips, although some dishes like flatbreads may not be as well-liked. Overall, Sweney's Tavern provides a pleasant dining experience with decent prices, though visitors should keep in mind that service issues and limited options for dietary restrictions might arise.
