New owners, portions smaller and food is trash. This is a good example of take good food and make it bad.

This place use to be one of my favorites. Haven’t been there for over a year. Portions were definitely smaller and the flavor was lacking. What happened? Very disappointed.

Since new management fired the cook (owner’s husband) and his sister who happened to be an amazing waitress/server, the food has been nowhere near as good as it used to be. They changed ingredients in several dishes, which now lack a ton flavor. We would frequent Bangkok 56 weekly, sometimes several times a week. We will not be going back…

I think they have a new owner and new cook, I went August 2025 and the food was bland. Soup and entree had no flavor. That's sad, was my favorite Thai place. Not going back

Little place with big flavor. I love the family run service. The food is clearly made with love. The spice tray you can get is also awesome. We love coming here! The drunken noodles are my favorite.

I almost hate to share how much I love this place because it is one of those tucked away diamonds. This has been my favorite restaurant for many years. The food is absolutely incredible. Our family hoseted and exchange student from China and this restaurant quickly became a favorite of his and his family as well. They are without a doubt the best Thai restaurant in Central Pennsylvania. They have remained the best Thai restaurant i have ever been too period.

The food was under cooked. Can work on custom service.

We are just learning about Thai food. This was our first time eating it, so nothing to compare it to... But I'll say it was delicious. I can't wait to try more

Their curries have more depth of flavor than anything else I've found. It's great with their fried tofu.

Food was decent. They told me to come get my takeout order in 20 minutes, after arriving I waited another 30. Pretty sure they didn't even start the order until I showed up to pick it up.

The vegetables weren’t properly washed — there was visible soil on the cooked mushrooms in my tom yum soup.

I absolutely love Bangkok 56! Every time I go, I feel like I’m getting a warm hug in the form of Thai food. My go to order is always the larb, drunken noodles, and a side of their simple fried rice and honestly, I could eat that combo every day.

The larb is so fresh and flavorful, with that perfect hit of lime and spice. The drunken noodles are packed with bold flavor and just the right amount of heat, comforting but with a kick. And their fried rice might sound basic, but it’s anything but. It’s just so satisfying.

Service is always friendly and the food comes out quick and hot. If you haven’t been yet, you’re seriously missing out!

I do think this is best Thai food around BUT don't get tofu anything YUCK apparently when you choose tofu as your protein source. That's all you get no vegetables. No lots of yummy sauce.Just yucky tofu that's mostly overdone on the edges. This happened to me before at another restaurant.I didn't think it happened to me here but it happened last night when I took takeout and there was no vegetables. I have to wonder why tofu is not in place of vegetables.Tofu is in place of the protein source if I ordered meat or chicken or shrimp it would have come with a bunch of yummy vegetables i hate that being a vegetarian makes my life so damn complicated. It was terribly disappointing to open up the box and see only tofu. It's misleading and it pisses me off. Twenty two dollars for a box of tofu and soggy spring rolls, they boxed him up.They weren't saggy on the outside. It was actually on the inside it was weird. Anyway food is awfully expensive to end up disappointed with the technicality of it. Sauce, wise spicewise.Everything was fine.I still think this is a good restaurant. It's just really disappointing the whole tofu thing . I hope this post saves another vegetarian from having no vegetables. You'd be better off getting the vegetables only.
