Sadly this was the last day the restaurant will be open. I would have expected a limited menu; however the full menu was offered and there were still excellent bottles of wine available. The chef did run out of the entree my husband selected however, we were treated to a delightful small plate to compensate a little longer wait after the chef came to our table to apologize and offer another entree selection. As always, first class service and a customer first attitude. Sad to see one of the few outstanding fine dining restaurants close the doors.

Host was very rude, never greeted us!!! Sat us at one of the worst tables, I couldn't even hear my husband talk. My Halibut was dry and scallops were average. For the price we paid was the worst Anniversary dinners we ever experienced in 32 years. Drinks nothing special. The only plus was our Waitress.

Everything was amazing.....from the appetizers, drinks, salads, entrees, and dessert. Everything was wonderful. The food not only looked good but it tasted better than it looked. The service was impeccable! I'm sorry to hear that they are closing.

Excellent food & service as always! We will miss this Harrisburg gem when they close May 13. But we'll enjoy every dish until then! Also, they have the best staff from Todd who seats you to the food runners, Laurie is our favorite server & Brittany makes the best cocktails!

Char's is the best. So sad that it is closing in 2 weeks. Our meal (pear and endive salad, seafood risotto, and halibut) were outstanding. Good luck to Char and to Chef Ron Canady as they each embark on their next chapters.

One of the last fine dining restaurants in Harrisburg. Excellent in every way. Friendly accommodating wait staff.great view of the Susquehanna River. Loved this place! Sorry to see it go.

This was a delicious meal in a very nice setting. Cocktails and food were all fantastic. Definitely a great night out. Our son is vegetarian and they had plenty of options for him as well. One of the best Martinis I've ever had. Will definitely be going back.

Since this restaurant is closing in a few weeks, I would recommend anyone interested to make a reservation. It has the excellent service and food as well as ambiance and a great view of the Susquehanna River if one requests a table near the windows. The portions were smaller than before, but that was all right. It is a special occasion venue as all items on the menu are over-priced. It is worth going to one last time!

Booked a reservation online and we showed up a few minutes early. The man we talked to seemed in disbelief that we did so. We went back into our car to wait for 10 minutes and came back in. We were taken to our seats and 20 minutes later, our waitress came by and took our drink order. 10 minutes later, we got our drinks. Then she took the appetizer order. 15 minutes later, our meal order. We didn’t see our waitress for the next hour. The food was incredibly overpriced for what you got. The drinks were good, however. Worst part of the evening was this group of people about our age being obnoxiously loud and clearly intoxicated. Everyone was visibly annoyed and the staff did nothing about it, even when people complained. The manager also gave us a bit of an attitude when checking in with us as she was walking by. We were there for a total of 3 hours and saw our waitress maybe 3 or 4 times. Food was mediocre, service was horrible, and, ultimately, was a waste of time and money. Total disaster of a surprise birthday dinner for my fiancé. Won’t be returning.

What can be said about this establishment that hasn't already been said? Amazing food, wonderful art, great atmosphere, lovely wait staff. It's a shame that my first time visiting is so close to their impending closing, because the food was phenomenal and will be missed.

First time and sorry I wasn't able to frequent sooner and often. Hope someone is able to continue the restaurant, but will be hard to live up to the current environment. the experience was everything I expected and more. Thank you

Chars was definitely one of the finest restaurants we have ever dined in. The ambience, food & service was impeccable. Very friendly & hospitable staff & owner.

Char's has the best consistency of any restaurant we visit on a regular basis. We always feel extremely welcomed as friends and receive full attention from the servers. We had four courses and two beverages each. The timing of the wait staff is impeccable. We were never waiting for food and drinks and they were never delivered before we were ready to start moving on to the next course. We are so sorry to see the establishment close in retirement. Char's has been a gem amongst the community.

Char's is closing after many years of great moments and I had to visit again before that. They had my favorite dessert back on the menu and both the owner and the chef stopped by to say thanks. Glad to see lots of diners joining in this farewell lap.

I heard the waitress talking about us on the way to the bathroom. And the food was a little under cooked. Seemed like waitress was avoiding us. Our first experience there was amazing, but this experience was honestly pretty terrible. Mainly just the service/waitress.
