I am not sure where to begin with this review. I am genuinely horrified.
My friend and I were in Harrisburg this morning for a college-related event. We wanted to get coffee beforehand, and entered Deco. At first, I was amused by the lovely plants and unique but tasteful decorations. I thought that the owner had a wonderful style.
My friend and I peered at the menu for a minute or two. The woman behind the counter, the only person I saw in the cafe, said, "What are you doing?" rather aggressively. I was taken aback, but then I figured she must just be sarcastically and comically passive-aggressive, as some are. My friend responded and told her that we were in town for an event for school. We were dressed in formal attire, in addition to the woman's tone and strange question, so I think my friend assumed she was asking what we were in town for. In her defense, the only benefit of the doubt I can give her, I did assume she was asking us what we were doing regarding what we wanted to order. Regardless, the woman said she indeed had no interest in what we were in town for and was asking what we wanted to order. She added that there were only a few things on the menu and that she wasn't sure what was taking us so long. Her tone was harsh, cruel almost.

At this point, I realized she was not being sarcastic or comical. Something was wrong here. My friend tried ordering a sandwich, the woman said, "Nope. Not today," again rather aggressively, and told us that she only had croissants and a few other items, of which I cannot remember now. At this point, I wanted to leave. I was uncomfortable. My fight or flight was enacted.

My friend, who did not notice my discomfort then, continued ordering a chocolate croissant. I ordered a coffee. My friend asked for water as well. The woman didn't respond but pointed at the cups sitting on the table and proceeded to grab a pitcher of water, which she slammed on the table in front of my friend. We paid and she continued to speak to us in a cruel tone.

While the croissant warmed and the woman made my coffee, I noticed the radio. It was a talk show of some type. Or maybe music was playing and the hosts were just speaking in between songs. I'm not sure. The woman began laughing aloud at what she was hearing on the radio. She was responding, muttering almost. She seemed erratic and irritated. In between responding to the radio, she would be humming and dancing, shifting from foot to foot strangely, all while she made the coffee.

When my friend and I thanked her and grabbed our coffee and croissant, she glared at us the whole way out the store. I was obviously appalled and confused. I could not understand why she was so angry, why she would treat customers, or anyone, so terribly, and why she was so fidgety and irritable. Obviously, drugs came to mind. The whole situation was giving drug abuse, but I cannot know anything for sure, of course.
Just please, do not go here.

I read the reviews, and it seems like, at one point, this was a relatively fine establishment. The woman sounded wonderful in previous reviews. I analyzed this situation repeatedly, questioning if there was anything my friend or I could have done to set her off. But she was nasty from the second we walked in the door. I truly hope she can find the help she needs.

Wow again I say wow. I walk into the place and the lady is on the phone. I am trying to give her my order. I could tell that she was a miserable individual. When I did order I was looking around and saw chocolates wrapped up in a bowl. So I picked up one and looked at it and put it back. She said did you take one? I said what. She I saw you pick one up. I said lady I am not a thief. She said don’t pick up my food. I am 70 years old and get along with 99% of people. I feel sorry for her and will remember her in my prayers. However I will never go back. Wow a crazy experience!!!!!!

I went here for lunch with a group of coworkers. Everything was fresh! The owner is super sweet and hustled to get us served. We were all happy with our choices and will definitely be going back to try some more options!
