Good atmosphere, great food, and the kitchen is open late 😊
On Monday, I visited Midtown Tavern, a place I used to frequent in my youth, only to have one of the worst experiences of my life. While sitting and listening to Tupac Shakur on my phone, I was confronted by the bartender and told to leave. When I asked if I was violating any policy, I was given no answer — instead I was threatened with the police.
At no point was I hostile or violent, yet I was accused of being “hostile.” The situation escalated when patrons began to confront me aggressively, and staff allowed it to happen. When I asked management if I had violated any policy, they had no reply. When I asked why customers were permitted to approach me violently, again, no reply.
The truth is, I was removed solely for listening to Tupac — a clear example of how racism and gentrification operate in real time. What once was a bar rooted in community has become a space where Black culture and presence are policed, where playing hip-hop is treated as a threat, and where outsiders feel emboldened to gang up on someone for simply existing authentically.
This wasn’t just about music. It was about how certain people and cultures are no longer welcome in spaces they once called their own.

Racism is alive and fueled by gentrification

Amanda is the MVP! Great service and tasty food! We loved the pizza and wraps. Only issue is it's hard to find! Very limited signage outside. Great local spot for a bite to eat and a fresh cold beer.

Saw this place on Google Maps after a very late fishing trip and decided we had to try. Serving lots of food options till well after midnight! Reminds me of some kind of old backwoods bar, but has a vibe that is different. Like you might hear more hip hop music than country. Great Service. Enjoyed the food and beer. If you are towing a boat, plan your parking in advance by looking at some maps.

Stopped by around 6pm on a Monday. The bar was full so I sat at one of the couches waiting on service.
I sat there for 10 minutes and no one acknowledged me. I was really thirsty so I left and went to a different bar.
It sucked bc it was my first time there-- I won't waste my time going back there but maybe you have time to kill.
Saved Mad Moose as “want to go” a few weeks before our trip to Harrisburg and it did not disappoint.
Wish we were in town longer so we could try more of the menu but the quesadilla and wings were really good. The cheesecake with raspberry sauce and cinnamon doughnuts were amazing!

Came for food and brews after work! Amanda our server was absolutely AMAZING!! 🤩
The moose didn't seem at all perturbed.
Good pizza, good beer and grown up mellow atmosphere. Close by.
The hot wings had almost no sauce on them. They were dang near dry. And tiny little shriveled little things. And it was hard to eat cause of the sewer gases stinking up the place from some drain somewhere inside... seriously the sewer sent is killing it here...
