I got the carrot cake and sweet potato pies. They were both delicious and very tasty!! You can taste the homemade taste in both desserts. Just call ahead to make sure they have what you want.

This is a family owned business and you can taste the love and pride they have in their food! Nora and Ed have been baking for a long while and I've had a chance to enjoy their delicious desserts while they were in the Broad Street Market. Now that they opened their own place just a few steps away from the Market, you get to enjoy their goodies for more than just 3 days. I ordered their 7Up Cake because my brother wanted to try and it was something I had previously. I called in at 1 to see if they had a whole cake available and they said that they would bake me one and it will be ready at 3. My family enjoyed a fresh cake that was flavorful and moist and made by this very kind family. They do offer many other specialties but I would recommend calling them a head of time to see if they have what you want available. I do suggest their cream cheese pound cake, 7Up or their Blueberry pound cake. All are flavorful and tasty! The price is very reasonable! I suggest instead of stopping in a grocery, go visit the local bakery to see what they are whipping up! They are also well known for their pumpkin and sweet potato pie. I haven't had a chance to try it but if local restaurants are buying it from them to put it on their menu, you can't go wrong!!

Wanted something sweet before we checked in to the hotel....yelped it and came across this little gem. Twenty minutes to closing on a Saturday. The owners had to be the sweetest couple ever!!! We were given samples of everything....all of which were delicious!!!! We decided on sweet potato pie and chocolate chip cookies...YUMMY !!! Only downside is that we don't live closer

P&R Bakery is a Mid-Town gem! Don't miss their cheesy grits, their signature sweet potato pies, their moist, dense made-from-scratch cakes, or the chocolate chip cookies they magically manage to make both crisp AND chewy. From now on, all of our family birthday cakes come from P&R...no globs of pink trans-fat roses...just real cake & real frosting, worth every calorie. I personally recommend chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. The owners/bakers/operators are one & the same. So you can count on the lovely folks at P&R Bakery to provide you with the exceptional products & services that can only come from personal interest & pride of ownership. We P&R Bakery!

Very cute bakery inside the Midtown Scholar bookstore. Not a large menu, but what I had was very good. Lots of great sweets. The staff/owners were very friendly. I'll definitely be back.

Great treat! Stumbled across this place inside the Midtown Scholar bookstore. The chocolate chip cookie I had was chewy and soft but still crispy and absolutely worth it for $1.75.

Located right beside Midtown Scholar Bookstore. Tried their brownie with walnuts and absolutely loved it! Very rich and soft without having to heat it up. Service was also great, everyone was so friendly. I will definitely be back!
