I really really wanted to love this place. I live 10 minutes away and have been dying to try it. The atmosphere is amazing: warm and hip, yet nostalgic. The service was exceptional from the moment we entered until walking out the door. Drinks were good, but not great. Where I have an issue with the restaurant is the food-quality/price-point balance. I have eaten at exceptional restaurants and I am not at all afraid to pay for quality. The Lamb Birria was just ok. There was no dimension to the dish and was uninspiring for a $38 dish with no sides, literally just a shank in broth. Again, I have no issue paying for quality. But definitely not worth the money. While I didn’t eat any of the other dishes that my party had, each of us felt exactly the same. Not good enough for the money. $300 for a party of 4, one round of drinks, and no desert. Had the food been amazing, this review would have been very different, but it wasn’t.

I went to La Maya for brunch on a Sunday. I ordered the steak and eggs along with a regular mimosa. I thoroughly enjoyed the taste, and cook on both my eggs and steak. The plating was very aesthetically pleasing yet very “minimalistic” considering the price.
Most who love mexican food enjoy it being both hearty, and inexpensive. I would go back to La Maya for dinner perhaps…but the brunch menu had very few options and quite steep prices. Beautiful restaurant and great service from Michelle, my server. ???

La Maya Mexican Restaurant is one of my favorite spots in Hellertown! The food is always fresh and full of flavor, and the customer service is friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great meal in a warm atmosphere

First of all the restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the ambiance makes this my top spot for date night. Staff is so friendly and the bartender last week made us the best cocktails! Food is delicious and we have pretty much had everything on the menu so far. Love this place!

We went here last night for our 6-year anniversary, blown away. Our server Patience was super friendly and totally crushed it, great suggestions from her. We got a ton off the menu, highly recommend the plantitos and the lamb birria!
Had items from all over the menu. Nachos and guacamole for apps were amazing. Could go back for just those. Had chicken and vegetarian enchiladas, shrimp pasta dish and the branzino. The branzino was amazing. You get some tortillas to make it into tacos with cabbage and pickled onions and 2 sauces. Cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. The shrimp was over pasta and was beautifully smoky and a new experience for me. Friends had the enchiladas and were raving about those as well. The flan rounded out the meal in a great way. Love the touch of mint on it.

First off, it’s a cute tiny restaurant with potential, and the server we had was sweet. The prices are incredibly too steep for the Lehigh Valley, and it’s sad that Hellertown cannot get an affordable restaurant anywhere. That being said food was…fine. Again not worth the price. The portions are so small, if you decide to try it make sure you eat a full meal beforehand, I’m not kidding. After all that, and after deciding to stay even though the place was so crowded I could barely walk, my shrimp still came out cold. So, use your own discretion :)

Today I went to lunch here and I was really impressed by the exquisite dishes, everything we ordered was very delicious, also impressed by the excellent service, the menu has a variety of dishes with a mix of unique flavors, beautiful presentation. Excellent staff; attentive and very friendly. 100% recommended, a fantastic gastronomic experience.
