Nice and quaint. Traffic picks up early, but really enjoyed the atmosphere and historical nature of it.
Walkability: Plenty of food and activity within a few minutes walk.

Disappointing Experience – Would Not Recommend
I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Hotel Wayne. My party of six had a confirmed reservation, yet when we arrived, we were told they would not honor it due to a supposed lack of staff. This was especially frustrating since other patrons were being seated and served without issue.
Prior to arriving, we attempted to call three times to confirm our reservation, but no one answered. Upon arrival, we were met with an unwelcoming and curt response from the host, who showed little to no hospitality. The way we were treated made us feel unwelcome, and it was clear that customer service was not a priority.
It was an extremely disheartening experience, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who values professionalism, courtesy, and fair treatment.

I called for a pick up. Simple order for 1 person. Chicken Ranch salad (substitute Swiss for cheddar). Made sure they had croutons, can't eat salad without. Ordered extra just in case. My order had NO croutons. 1 slice of cucumber, cut in half, 3 cherry tomatoes, a teaspoon of cheddar cheese, lots of lettuce, normal amount of chicken and paid 15.00. Keep going back because it's convenient. I'm done!
Nice place,clean .
Food was very good.
I had brisket and burger,excellent.
The only thing I can state is decora is hurting. Needs to be updated

Great building and the food was ok. But the service was really mediocre. Waited to be seated for 5 minutes on a Monday after lunch time. One person on staff, forget forks, no asking for things on the burger (cheese, onions, etc.) No refills offered, just cold, and seemingly rushing us or as unwelcoming as possible. Taking time chatting with other customers and neglecting others. Dismal.

Stop in for a cocktail or cider before heading downtown.
Great for small bites and appetizers.

I rented one of the apartment rooms(1bdrm) on 10/12/24-10/14/24. It was over $400 for 2 nights!!! AND I was quoted a much cheaper price not even a week before arriving!! My whole family was staying in this hotel for a family members wedding down the road. I was told all prices had been lowered because of the time of year but I swear they jacked them back up because it was a wedding party. Let me just say I am a HUGE supporter of local businesses and a very easy going person but this was one of the worst AND most expensive stays I've ever had. For a pet friendly hotel there was literally NO WHERE to walk dogs, that wasn't across a busy street. Second the stairs/porch leading up to the aprtment looked like they were going to literally fall off the building, and dont even get me started om the back stairs, they LITERALLY were falling off the building. There was no pull put couch as advertised. There was a literal hole in the bathroom floor my son cut his foot on. The coffee pot had no basket so was completly unusable, and no toaster(supposed to be full kitchen). Every drain in the place was clogged with disgusting old hair and the kitchen sink faucet handles were backward and the whole thing flopped around so bad I thought It was going to fall off. The kitchen staff/overnight staff hung out all night at the back kitchen door, which happened to be pretty close to one of our windows and they were SO LOUD, playing music talking etc. It went on until well past 1 am both nights we stayed there. I barely slept either night. And the fact that the building is right off a BUSY road and they still had air conditioners in the windows, you could hear worry single car and person that walked by. My parents stayed in the 2 brdm apartment next door and had just as bad of a stay(let me add there weren't even proper bedding for all the beds in either apartment and what was there was GROSS). I cannot speak for the regular rooms inside the building but both apartments were ridiculously expensive for horrible rooms. I DO NOT RECCOMEND staying in the apartments. I truly wish I could get money back because it was just THAT BAD and I really hate to do this but I just cannot keep silent about how awful AND expensive this was. So so disappointing, I really had such high hopes for this place ?

This hotel needs updating. The water in the shower keeps going off while’s showering. The flooring makes noise while’s walking. The first room we were given was not clean and it was very small and the bathroom was tiny. The second room was clean and more spacious from the pictures below. The service was great because they immediately change our room after we let them know about the condition.

Restaurantji Recommends
I have stayed at Hotel Wayne twice.
Once in the main hotel building and once in the small apartments at the back:
The experience was comfortable, clean and very authentic.
The staff was friendly and kind. good food, nice bar.
Outdoor dining in warmer months.
I liked the art on the walls of the 3 floors in the main hotel, painted by a WW2 vet named H.D. Becker in the late 1960's. Historical scenes from the area, featuring horses looking startled by trains...the new "iron horse"
There is a 24 hour convenience store 2 blocks away.
Don't miss the WPA paintings in the P.O. on Main street if you are into that type of thing.
AAA office is 6 blocks away.
Very old hotel in an interesting part of town, one block from the hospital....but NO sirens at night or noise from the hospital.
Yes, there are the cosmetic issues mentioned in other reviews....but, to me, they are out weighed by everything I mentioned and more.
Another perk is the Exxon gas station around the back of the Wayne Hotel, which is FULL SERVICE.
They pump your gas, of course. But also check your oil and tire pressure if you ask them.
Honesdale PA is the birthplace of commercial railroading in America....Several examples of old train cars in town....
The Lakawaxen River is across the street from Hotel Wayne...which has been dug down below street level.
There are many interesting small towns to see in a 25 mile radius.

there was a huge gap between the room door and the hallway, you could definitely see through it and stick something under it, which was a little unsettling. the bathroom was very small and the plumbing was interesting. right next to a restaurant called Paulies which has great hot dogs!

This hotel is clean, central, and cozy. Its not necessarily modernized and there is no elevator - the charm is in its age and history, so if you prefer updated chain hotels its probably not for you but service was great and even as platinum chain hotel members we enjoyed our 1-night stay. Its giving prohibition era!

Our favorite bartender!
Pete at Hotel Wayne is hands down our favorite bartender, and it's easy to see why. As regulars, we’ve had countless wonderful experiences thanks to his exceptional service and warm personality.
Pete’s creativity behind the bar keeps us coming back. He’s always experimenting with new flavors and concoctions, often surprising us with custom drinks that suit our tastes perfectly. He also makes the best dirty martini around!
No matter how busy the bar gets, Pete handles it with grace and efficiency. He keeps the drinks flowing without ever compromising on quality. His ability to manage a crowded bar with ease is truly impressive.
Pete’s customer service is unparalleled. He’s incredibly attentive, friendly, and genuinely cares about his patrons. He remembers our names, our usual orders.
Pete’s blend of skill, creativity, efficiency, and exceptional customer service makes him the best bartender we’ve ever encountered. As regulars at the Wayne Hotel we’re lucky to have Pete taking care of us. If you’re looking for an unforgettable bar experience, look no further than Pete.
