This is my 3rd time here. Gotta say the servers are attentive, food is delectable, and the atmosphere is inviting. If you haven’t been here, you really should try them out. Then you’ll see what’s all the rave about and agree. :)
The food is fantastic! Loads and loads of BACON! The menu is also meatless friendly. We ate outside on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The service was excellent. The waitress was very personable and friendly. The drinks were very good also. The only downside was that the cheeses listed on the sandwiches were not available and the appetizer we ordered was unavailable.
This isn’t your typical tavern. Cool wood ceiling and bathroom sink. Food was good but a little pricey. Upscale bar food. Service was good.
Ordered bacon as an app.....1/2 lb. one flavor, 1/2 lb. another....they bring out one flavor and say 1 or 2 strips of that flavor will be out soon? then bring the other 1/2 lb 10 minutes later. We ordered 3 meals.....2 came out together and one came out 15 minutes later and of course at that point the first two meals were cold. The restaurant inside had 0 tables full, and 0 people at the bar. The outside had 4 tables occupied. Just a terrible, terrible experience and probably why the inside is completely empty. It's sad because it's really one of the nicest bars in town but experiences like that really curtail someone from coming back again. Owners need to get it together before its another jtown eye sore.
Absolutely the best hamburger I have ever had. The zucchini planks were outstanding. The green beer was just perfect with dinner.
I thought I had traveled back to my college days when cold, greasy food was the norm. Over crowded, but not bad if you don't mind people passing by hitting you in the back. Not bad seating unless you like sitting at a table for eight the size of a lumber board, the menu extending over the other side where others are sitting. Sitting was great if you don't mind relaxing on a stool. Menu written in gibberish - just wanted a burger and fries which couldn't be found. Burger was shaped like a meatball that couldn't support the extra onions because they were one inch long slithers. Same size for the hard, greasy COLD fries. I can compliment - the bathroom sink had good water flow. Finally, the mask requirement must must be for Thee, not Me (bartender).
Let me start this off by saying that I’ve worked multiple jobs in the food service industry throughout college. I’ve been a waiter, delivery boy, and even in the kitchen itself so I have the utmost sympathy for everyone in this industry. I understand that it can be overwhelming and just very stressful in general and I know that most people are trying their best.....I can’t even imagine how it must be now with COVID. What I don’t tolerate, however, is pure negligence. I went there recently and like a typical restaurant on a weekend they were busy. Unfortunately, moments after my order was placed, it was lost because the internet went down for a bit. What irritated me the most, though, was how the situation was handled. I sat at my table in plain sight for 30 minutes and not once did my waitress check up on me. We made eye contact several times and I motioned that I needed her but she flat out turned her head and kept attending to the larger tables (likely because she knew they meant bigger tips). It eventually got to the point wher people who arrived 15 minutes after me were getting their food yet mine was nowhere to be found. At this point, 40 minutes passed and I had to take matters into my own hands since my waitress continued to be negligent. It was only after going directly to another waiter did I learn that my order was lost. They also told me the manager himself would bring my order directly to me. Another 20 minutes pass and my waitress brings out my food, places it down, and runs off without even asking if I needed anything....despite it being painfully obvious that my beer and water glasses were both empty. At this point I was truly upset and had to flag down the bartender to get the manager. However, this would soon turn out to be just as pointless. When I explained my situation to him, he didn’t seem to care and just stared at me with a dead expression, no sympathy whatsoever. And to top it off he acted as if this was a normal occurrence and like I had inconvenienced him and offered only a “sorry” and proceeded to leave. After I finished my meal my waitress passed my table numerous times, once not even acknowledging the obviously empty dishes on my table. At that pint I had enough and had to flag down another staff member who wasn’t busy to give me my check. I apologize for the rambling and for coming off as negative but as a former food service employee it truly baffles me how incompetent and negligent staff can be. Long story short, of you want to go somewhere with a pretty atmosphere and a lot of time to kill, this is your place
We stopped in on a Friday night during COVID. Guessing they were busier than expected. Waited but so glad we did. Tried the 1/2 lb of bacon on a stick. I think it was bourbon, maple syrup and brown sugar. Try it... delicious. My husband and I split the chicken cordon bleu grilled sandwich. It was delicious. I couldn't even finish my half. I highly recommend you check out this cute place.
I ordered crap cake sandwich which was VERY good. Hubby got bbq burger with sweet pot fries but he received regular fries. He didnt send back but didn’t eat them. He liked his burger. The waitress helped me to pick a white wine which was very: very good. i didn't want reg fries so I asked for a side salad which was an up charge- the salad was not good; it looked like a wedge & had brown lettuce. Also it had the end / stem of the lettuce. I did not send back cause the waitress was very busy. She was very nice. We sat outside which was nice.
Ordered food to go. First time we tried tap 814. It was delicious. The provolone wheel was made just right- hot, light breading. The grilled cheese with bacon jam and Gouda was delicious. Way too big for one. The bourbon burger was great and also huge. The fries weren’t superb but I will definitely be back!

One and done for me. The waitress attempted to be a comedian and I didn't find her amusing when I was attempting to inform her of an inedible hamburger. I didn't notice on the first couple bites, but from then on I eventually couldn't finish it, it was that salty. Everything, I mean everything has bacon on it. The beer selection was OK and I had difficulty choosing 4 beers to complete a flight. Only one, the Fathead's Pimp my Sleigh was worthwhile. The menu is extremely limited and includes only flatbreads, grilled cheese and burgers. My friends said the flatbread and grilled cheese were OK, nothing outstanding. They should really name this place Bacon 814 or blood pressure elevator. So disappointed after seeing a few good reviews. Yet to find a decent hamburger in the Johnstown area.
