Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen

Will never be back.was told my child could not be at bar. No big deal but wanted to order drinks while we waited for our table. Made eye contact with the bartender multiple times as he refused to serve us. My party was 8 people. Their loss.

We’ve loved this place since it opened many years ago. Last night was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. We got there around 5:30 on a Saturday. Yea, it was busy, we waited about 5 minutes to sit. Waited awhile for the waitress who finally came over and said ‘I have to go take care of something and will be back for your order’. Waited. Came back for drink and appetizer order. Great. Drinks come, appetizer comes. Great. Oh? Hey? Can we get some water? Silverware? Napkins please? Then she comes for food order. Now, as we sat down, there were 3 other tables that came in after us. Who then proceeded to get their food orders. And eat, and finish their meal - all while we’re waiting for our meals. Not ONCE did the waitress come back to tell us the status of our food. In fact, circumvented our table every time she went to the kitchen. As we realized that the table next to us had gotten their check - we asked for a manager. It had been 45 minutes. Our waitress then came and said ‘I have no idea why it’s taking so long’…no attempt to take our empty appetizer dishes. Thank GOODNESS we ordered apps or we would have been even more hungry then we were. Manager comes - so sorry, comp meal - great. But I just want to leave we’ve been here an hour and a half. FINALLY the food comes - and I start to eat my potstickers - one had exploded on my plate. And the other had a long hair in it that I proceeded to pull out of my mouth. Okay, we’re done here. My daughter’s chicken fingers and fries looked worse than McDonald’s. I think my husband liked his streak. Then - because we’re adults and responsible and don’t want to just leave - we waited for someone to at least tell us that we could leave. About 20 minutes go by and the waitress said we could go. Walked by Manager - who never came back after our food finally arrived - and dismissed us as we walked out with ‘have a good night’. No, sorry, no anything. Yes, the food was comped - but watching all the tables around you get food after they came in after you…. Unreal. I left hungry - because, ew, hair - and pissed off. It was our favorite go-to in Kennett - but this place has really gone down hill. Never again.

Just had got done work realized there's no food, I was looking through DoorDash saw grain. I wanted the nachos but felt bad cause the little timer said 1 min til their not taking orders, I felt terrible about it but I really wanted nachos I had the expectation of them being at least like half effort it was probably the last order, but man was I pleasantly surprised when I got them, they looked amazing and tasted even better the guac is crazy good too!!! If you got this far just order grain I'm telling you, you won't regret it

We had a wonderful late night meal here and greatly enjoyed the live music! As other reviews said service was a bit suboptimal with our waitress being very friendly but not super attentive. Other than that, our meal was a stand out for our time in PA! Highly recommend their fancy grilled cheese, burgers, and cookie skillet.

We visited on Saturday, 8/10, in the afternoon, and the restaurant was very slow. When we walked in, all the staff stared at us, which felt a bit odd. We sat down, and a server came over and quietly mumbled, “Drinks?” The three of us ordered beverages, then waited over 10 minutes before being able to place our food order — despite there being only one other table dining.

When the food arrived, it was absolutely delicious. However, the server never checked back on us. Once we were finished, we had to flag him down for boxes and the check. He dropped the check on the table and walked away, and we again had to wait for him to return to process the card. After bringing it back, he set it down without a word. Over the entire visit, he might have said three words to us.

I understand everyone has off days, but when business is slow, it’s even more important to be friendly and attentive to guests who are paying for good service.

Didnt start out well. Ordered 2 identical drinks which came out completely different. Had to send back to get one fixed. We were told there are 6 pot stickers and got 5. They were not crispy but server said get fried rather than sauteed so they would be crispy. Kitchen didn't get the memo. Food was not anything special. Disappointed that I relied on the reviews of others and they were not accurate. Won't return.

Fantastic all around. Sat at the bar. Bartender came right over to greet us. Drinks & food were superb!!! Look forward to going back!!!

Stopped in for a late lunch and so glad we did. The food was amazing!!!
I had the Salmon Risotto and the for dessert the cinnamon churro cake. Put me right into a food coma & can't wait to go again
