Heart & Hearth Deli & Smokehouse is, hands down, the kind of place I wish there were more of. The food, service, and overall experience were outstanding. It is food as it should be.
For a few dollars more than a fast-food meal, you get food that is in an entirely different league. The star of my visit was the pastrami sandwich. They don't buy pastrami and slice it. No, they start with raw beef and make it in-house from beginning to end. You taste the difference.
The bread was fresh and fantastic, and the mustard had just the right amount of kick, enough to clear your sinuses and let you know who’s boss. Even the small details of a pickle and side salad were done right. They were cold, crisp, and fresh, exactly as they should be.
The sandwich was served on a real plate with real silverware, not on a paper tray with a plastic fork. A small touch that makes the meal feel more like home-made.
And if you're vibing nostalgia, sit in the back and put on some music from their vinyl collection while you eat surrounded by art from local artists.
Great food, friendly service, and attention to detail everywhere you look. I'll be back.

Quality ingredients, food made from scratch, food with soul, food truly made to not only nourish you, but is also incredibly delicious.

PeacH BBQ sandwich, and the Rueben are out of this world. I cannot applaud what this store provides enough. Nothing beats hanging out in the dining area vibing with their record player surrounded by good company and food.

Talk about a hidden gem! My wife and I found this place in a Google search. We were looking for a good place to take a ride to on the harley end get lunch. The service was excellent. The food was even better! The atmosphere was perfect. The reuben I had was by far the best I ever had and my wife's pepper/peach pork sandwich was out of this world. We kept going back and forth sharing each other's sandwich because they were sooo good. I highly recommend this place if you want something completely different and off the beaten path. All of their ingredients are completely organic and locally sourced. I cant wait to go back again!!!

If you're into cozy vibes, great fresh food, and amazing pastries, this is the place for you! I stumbled in here on my first visit to Kutztown and was blown away by how much of the food was made fresh in-house (most of their meats are even smoked on-site) or sourced from the local community, how kind the staff was, and how good everything tasted. This is definitely one of those places worth going out of your way to visit. I had the turkey and cheese sandwich and the rhubarb and lemon galette, both of which were incredible.

The atmosphere is a fresh breath of air. The art from the local artists that is showcased is a plus.

The food is always fantastic. I had the roast beef sandwich, and the mashed potatoes with brisket. The variety of flavors pair very well together. The deli turkey is very good, and the pastrami is excellent. I would also recommend the baby back ribs, with the habenero sauce if you like heat. (Or any alternative if heat is not your thing.)

l cannot tell you how blown away by this place that I was. The friendliness of the staff, the food is simply incredible, meats melt in your mouth. I wish I had known about this place 3 years ago, but not mad at this point because I will be back and will be bringing friends over and over. A+++++++

Great place! Stopped in for lunch while meandering through PA. Nicely balanced menu for lunch. We settled on trying the Rachel and a ham & cheese. The Rachel on a lovely rye was delicious. The ham & cheese was on a perfect baguette with thinly sliced apple. Jim and Colleen were on-site and both were accommodating and friendly. I left wishing we lived closer as I’m sure I could work my way through the menu and be pleasantly surprised at how they make classic sandwiches taste better and brighter. Cheers!

Outstanding BBQ and a top-notch customer experience! A warm and friendly place for a delicious, made-from-scratch lunch. Brisket mac & cheese with house honey bourbon BBQ sauce was out of this world. A must if you’re in the area!
