Staff is excellent and we've been coming to this charming inn for dinnerfor over 20 years. We understand new ownership brings changes, but we are not a fan of the new very limited menu. We left to go to another nearby restaurant after we discovered there was nothing for my wife to eat. Sad that the inn will no longer be part of our lives. I wish the new owners the best of luck.

Excellent tiki bar and restaurant on the river

I am reviewing the restaurant only, as I did not stay at the hotel. There are things that I hope the owner can improve on, because the potential is there for this place, but it is falling short. Upon entering I was cheerfully greeted by the bartender at the bar who said I could sit in the dining room with my family. So we went to the dining room which was completely empty and saw a please wait to be seated sign. We waited and no one came to seat us, so we were confused on what to do, or if they were still open for orders, as the bartender said we could go to the dining room to eat, as we didn't want to eat in the bar area. Then we finally ventured outside to the deck where there we saw 3 other tables of people.

We waited for a few minutes for a server to acknowledge us. There was no one there, we kinda just stared at the other people eating and they looked back at us, like ok what to do now. We just sat and waited again. Finally the server came out, put menus down, and walked away. She did not ask about drinks or anything. We then sat for 15 minutes waiting for her to come back and ask about drinks and take our order. The table was also not wiped off from the last customers, and had sauce smeared right on top.

During that time I heard the other table next to us complaining about their experience as well. I was debating leaving seeing what was happening so far, but decided to stick it out and give the place the benefit of the doubt.

Finally the server came over and took our order. She was nice and I get the feeling she was just completely overwhelmed and not maliciously neglecting what she was supposed to be doing. But with only 3 tables of people I don't know how you could be so overwhelmed.

The wait time for the food was long. From the actual order time to receiving the food was an hour. I waited 10 minutes just to get a soda refilled after my cup was taken for the refill, and thats not including the time it just sat empty on the table.

During this time 2 other people walked in and had the same experience I had, waiting to be seated. They finally sat for 10 minutes, were not acknowledged at all and they got up and left. I then heard another table complaining about what was going on. It was obvious at this point that this place is not being managed properly, and its not a simple mistake or two, as multiple people within earshot of me were all complaining.

Now the positives. The server did sincerely apologize for the long wait, which I appreciated, and why I gave 3 stars instead of 2. The food, although the wait was long, was delicious, cooked to perfection, and presented well. I really was not expecting that seeing how everything was up to that point. Our sodas and coffee were also not charged because of the wait, which I respect the business for doing. Also having free wifi is great since the cell service is not good in that area.

This place has a gorgeous view of the river and really good food. Its all there to be a hit, but there are things that need to be addressed. I hope if I try this place again in the future I have a better experience.

This place is a joke.....they don't even have SALSA for the quesadilla.....or marinara for the mozzarella sticks.....OLD MENU on line, with no decent options......the new OWNER needs to step up the game, because from what this WAS to what this IS......is horrific.......this place should be jamming , and it is just a sad state that is considered a decent establishment......sad sad sad

Shannon, the bartender at the Tiki Bar, was so nice. She took the time to talk with us about things to do in the area. The nachos were great. Made with pulled pork. Look forward to going back.

My husband and I drive up to the Inn yesterday for lunch. The waitress came out took our drink order, then more people came in, etc. The waitress then took our food order. We were extremely disappointed as it took 40 minutes or more for our food to come out, as others who came in after us got their food before us!! Not sure what the problem was as the waitress kept saying it’s not me I am waiting on the kitchen yet others were getting their food. Extremely disappointed.!!!! We will not be going back..

Stumbled on the Inn and couldn't wait to try it out for dinner. Unassuming bar, dinner area, but the team went out of their way to setup our 3 children and 5 adults. The food was awesome! It was 50cent wing night and they were amazing. Most of us had burgers which were packed with flavor. All in all, living just over the river will mean many return trips!!

“Self care” after a hefty week at work, decided to stay here for foliage, fishing and reading. Convenient place with good food, separate entrance for guests. There is a spot of shoreline to be used w permission, one of the better spots. Room was clean attention for detail was practiced here from polished floor to assortment of soap and shampoo etc.

This was my first time and I was excited to try it based on the reviews. I understand it was a holiday weekend. The service was very very slow. The food was mediocre at best. I left there feeling very disappointed with 90% of my dinner in a box. Which I did not eat, I gave it to my son as a late night snack.

Stopped off for an excellent snack on Sunday afternoon. Great atmospheric place, reasonably prices - and great views of the bridge and old railway station - now a passing place on the busy freight railroad.

We brought friends here for dinner because this is our favorite place. Our table was perfect, overlooking the beautiful river, our bartender and server were very pleasant, and the food was delicious. A perfect dinner at a beautiful place!

Great stop at the New Inn at Lackawaxen after a day of site seeing and fishing. The trip alone to this place is worth the visit. Post card views at every vista along the Delaware. This place sits practically at the foot of the amazingly engineered and constructed Roebling Bridge. The food was good and the views impressive from the outside deck and bar. My brother and I ordered a couple of appetizers - stuffed jalapeños and the wings! I was full just from the wings, but ordered their signature Delaware burger and my brother scored with the fish and chip he ordered. Nicely battered and fresh fish. As we went through our dinner, the clouds grew darker and the winds picked up. Within minutes, the power went out. Everyone adapted and nobody complained! They had to close up, but some guests moved to the bar and event room sitting under the emergency lighting. The staff and owner did their best to accommodate everyone and anybody not paying cash, could come back the next day to pay. They didn’t even have to stay and do the dishes to work it off.😉
Would definitely recommend stopping by for the view and filling up on some pub food - burgers, wings and the fish and chips. Will definitely stop back after a day exploring the Upper Delaware River Recreation area with my fishing pole and camera! I suggest the same.🙏

Went for dinner, food was not good. French onion soup had zero flavor and the onions were raw. The outside bar did look nice (closed when we went). I would go back for drinks outside but not for food.
