Best German restaurant in PA. Wont get any better home made dishes anywhere else. Check availability ahead of time.

The entire evening was incredible. The authentic German food reminded me of grandma’s. The owners are welcoming and make you feel at home. Not to mention 2 floors of antique gems. I’m sorry we didn’t discover this sooner but certainly will be back.

Very good German food. BBQ available in season too. Service is good. For better or worse kind of like eating at someone's home as you will have interactions with the chef(owner) and the waiter/BBQgrillmaster (owner). Very friendly. A little slow, so make sure you have plenty of time (at least 90 minutes). Capacity is only 25(?) so definitely call ahead. An added touch to this restaurant is that it is also an antique shop with lots and lots of stuff on every wall and any nook and cranny available. Don't miss the upstairs. Did I mention lots of stuff? Some of it is even pretty cool.

Incredible food and incredible owners. We can’t wait to go back!

I popped in before food service began so I can’t review a meal, but the antiques and Knick knacks were worth stopping in for. The owner welcomed us in to chat and look around. Will definitely make a reservation for a meal next time.

If you’re looking for a unique and comforting dining experience, Der Jaeger is SO worth the trip! It is unpretentious, cozy, and it felt like being invited to a good friend’s house for dinner.

We got started with the most delicious bread basket (the pretzel bread was insanely fluffy and I went to bed dreaming about it). While your food is being prepared, you can walk around the restaurant since it doubles as an antique shop! There’s even an upstairs area with SO many cool finds (unique prints, patterned Tiffany lamps, and the interesting character or sports-themed knick-knack) so you can peruse while you wait for your food.

For our dinner, we got some side dishes for the table to share: the spätzle is perfectly chewy and buttery, topped with a crunchy breadcrumb. Also sprinkled with those toasty lil breadcrumbs are the potato dumplings, fluffy and soft on the inside. Personally, my fav side dish was the cucumber salad, which was acidic and bright with the help of some finely chopped red onion and lots of fresh dill. For dinner, I got the Kassler Rippchen (smoked pork chop) and not only was it massive, but juicy and flavorful without being overly salty. I tried my fiancé’s pork schnitzel and it was also so comforting, crispy, and delish (and of course, you gotta order it “a la holstein” so that it comes with the gorgeous drippy egg). Finally, I sampled my mother-in-law’s Chicken Paprikash which had a creamy, rich paprika-flavored gravy over chunks of tender chicken.

We of course had to get tea and coffee (they even made us decaf!) to have some dessert. The Black Forest cake was a generous slab, served with whipped cream and ice cream. I didn’t try the apple turnover, but it came with the same “sides” (and according to the table folks, was really really good).

Some other notes: make a reservation because it is a cozy place and seating may be limited! Also: it is BYOB so bring that bottle of wine (or some German beers) to enjoy with your meal.

I’ve never had a meal quite like this, so it is worth making the trip if you are in the pocono region! The food is clearly made with love, and the best is that you’re eating it in an eclectic lil time capsule.

If you're looking for excellent food and great atmosphere, this is the place for you!

We had the opportunity to celebrate a Christmas dinner here last night with six friends.

Our Host and Hostess (The owners of this wonderful establishment) provided excellent food and heartwarming conversation.

If you're in the neighborhood or just driving through, this is a unique experience that you do not want to miss.

I wish I had taken pictures of our food. However, pictures do not pay tribute to the preparation and quality of the food.

This restaurant has the best potato pancakes we have ever had. I suggest if you would like them, when you make your reservation, you request them at that time. They are made fresh for you when you come in the door and they are exceedingly delicious.

The restaurant is small with just a few tables so I highly recommend making a reservation so you're not disappointed if there isn't a table available when you arrive.

Was an amazing experience. The food portions were generous and quite good. The atmosphere was quaint but inviting. The chef and host were very friendly. Overall, it was a nice time.

Sylvanna and Janusz gave us a most unique dining experience. Best German food we’ve ever had. It felt like we were dining at a friend’s house instead of a restaurant. We highly recommended this place. You won’t be disappointed. We can’t wait to go back.

A true taste of Germany! Sylvana and Janusz have made some of the best meals I’ve ever had. Their culinary talent and their friendship over many years will always keep us coming back. No one can, or does, do it like they do. The schnitzel and the paprikash are my favorites!

Second time we dine here. Made a special trip from RI to the area so we could have dinner at Der Jaeger. First time we were here was 2.5 years ago and have wanted to come back ever since. The food is wonderful and you can't beat the welcoming atmosphere. This will be the place we always return to when we are the area.

What an amazing experience. We walked in with no resi but somehow we managed and the owners let us stay. (Strongly recommend a reservation). Janusz and his wife Sylvana are very kind people. They were busy with prepping dinner for a larger group but still provided exceptional hospitality for us. We didn't experience the full menu because we didn't have resi but got a sausage sampler with homemade sour kraut, smoked ribs and potato salad. Everything was perfect. The whole place has a lot of history, antiques are everywhere. We will definitely comeback for a full dinner next time. Dziękujemy!!!
