I had the spaghetti and meatballs. Huge portion, came with fresh salad. The sauce was delicious, spices were perfect! Fair pricing, nice clean atmosphere, friendly service. Would recommend!

Food is fresh and prepared in a timely matter. Serving staff is attentive and fun to interact with. Restaurant is clean, neat and decor is charming. Bring your own wine and enjoy time with family and friends. You are never rushed out the door. Each and every dish I have had at Ida's is delicious. Serving sizes are huge and you will get at least two meals from each serving. That being said, yes Ida is "entertaining" however she is a great person who welcomes everyone like family. She will take the time to come and check on you as you dine. My family and friends love this place!

The food was good and the staff was very attentive the owner was very rude. I have eaten there several times but I'm done with this place.. Much better Italian place just down the road.
This is the most authentic Italian you can get in Pgh. Ida works ALL day herself. Food is unbelievable and I'm Italian (we can be particular about our Italian food). If you can't handle Ida's personality, don't go. Remember, hers is a different CULTURE – this is not a place for uptight conservative folk looking for some gentrified Italian atmosphere. Just relax and let her do her thing.

If you've read the reviews and heard the stories about Ida, let me tell you, they are true. She is quite the personality and she is not for the feint of heart or if you are easily offended by language. But, she is a wonderful woman and one hell of a cook. We decided on eating there last night with friends and she didn't disappoint. The food was outstanding. My wife loves bolognese sauce and has tried it everywhere. This, she says, is the real deal. From the homemade salad dressing, to the homemade sauces and desserts, this is the place to go for basic italian. She has a small menu, but each item is top notch. Dont let the prices fool you, you cant eat it all. My only hope is that the roll would be warmed a touch before serving. Ours were ice cold. At least do yourself a huge favor and get it to go.
