Lumberville General Store – Review

I appreciate the acknowledgement, but I put a lot of time into writing a detailed review about my visit. I noticed that other reviews here received more thoughtful responses, and I just want to be clear that all customers’ feedback deserves equal appreciation. I hope in the future everyone’s experience is valued the same way.

While riding along the Delaware Canal Towpath Trail, my father and I decided to stop by the Lumberville General Store, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. Nestled in a charming, small-town setting, the store offers a welcoming and cozy atmosphere that makes it a perfect spot for a casual meal.

I ordered the big cheeseburger with French fries, and it exceeded my expectations. The burger was hearty and flavorful, cooked to perfection, and generously topped with fresh ingredients. The fries were crisp on the outside and tender on the inside—classic comfort food done right. My father ordered a chicken slider, which he also enjoyed and found tasty and satisfying.

For cyclists, they have bike racks outside, providing a safe and convenient place to leave your bikes while you enjoy your meal.

Beyond the food, the staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the warm, inviting vibe of the store. It felt like a place where locals gather, yet still accessible and enjoyable for visitors passing through.

Whether you’re stopping by during a ride on the Delaware Canal Towpath Trail or just looking for a casual, satisfying meal in Lumberville, the General Store is a solid choice. We’ll definitely be returning on our next visit to enjoy more of their menu.

I stopped in for breakfast, the paper menus list $16.95 & under its price has listed several breakfast, all items one price, I requested just 2 eggs potatoes & toast, the never adjusted the price. The potatoes were small thin sliced like pot or chips out of a bag, one slice of toast that was stale terrible meal . With coffee $21.00 for eggs. 1 slice of toast & horrible what is supposed to be home? Fries were a thin is potato chips and only an inch square whoever heard of home fries like that.. I will never be back & I will pass the word around.0h yes the coffee is not hot

Such a quaint place to eat or even take out.
I was incredibly impressed with the products they sold and the level of service I received.
The gazpacho was the best I have ever had.

Had the omelette special and a croissant. Omelette was very good, however it only came with one slice of toast and some crispy potato chips. The croissant was great. Coffee from the carafe was just ok. Very nice, casual seating around the patio area, but there was some food on the ground attracting yellow jackets. Parking can be tight, especially on weekends.

CYCLISTS READ THIS

Love this place but the cyclist gangs can take over and can be quite rude.

The food is great, the ambience is beautiful, the staff is lovely. Perfect place for a morning breakfast outside in the spring, summer and fall.

But some of the cyclists are getting rude. Today our little table was swarmed by a group of about ten cyclists, who end up in the tables around us and screaming over us. We moved to a faraway table and the same thing happened when another group came in. Half didn’t buy anything; the other half bought token items like a coffee or Powerade. A few of them were complaining that the cafe/restaurant doesn’t leave out carafes of free water anymore for them - they agreed among themselves they wouldn’t tip anymore! Entitled mentality for sure.

Meanwhile, they are angering regular customers who buy full meals who want to enjoy the peaceful nature of this beautiful property. This has happened a couple times to us already.

From what I understand, some cyclists were drinking directly from the carafes and abusing the privileges that this cafe afforded them.

Cyclists, you are going to ruin this little gem of a place. And some of you are ruining it for the rest of the cyclists. Mind your manners.

We stopped by here after a day of hiking on the canal towpath. The food was great, and the portions were huge. You just can't say no to the pastries staring at you from inside the case.

I was there today and saw these beautiful loaves of artisan breads. I brought myself an Everything loaf and Italian! It is the best bread I have tasted! Very flavorful and the bread was so soft. If you stop by be sure to check them out you won't be sorry!!

This place looks like a magical tavern or cottage. It is cozy. The food service was super fast and generous and delicious. Gluten free options are great! The latte was phenomenal. 10/10. I’m bringing my husband back here with me!

Decided to stop by this magical looking place for breakfast this morning… Can I just say this was the most amazing breakfast I have ever had. I walked into a homey and cozy atmosphere with the kindest service ever and was overwhelmed with the amount of gluten free options as well. (The cookies were huge and that’s unheard of) I ordered the breakfast sandwich with gluten free bread and almost teared up at how delicious it was. I’ve also never experienced more unique home potatoes in my life. They were crispy like chips with the flavor of potatoes. I loved how quick everything was and the set up of the place was so comforting. I can only imagine how beautiful this place is year round. Will definitely be going back.
