I debated even writing a review but I feel I must to help others. This restaurant is beautiful and the ambience is lovely but the food was so disappointing. The baked burrata appetizer said it had figs and there were no figs at all not even a hint of figs….the burrata was melted and completely tasteless - I could have made this at home, it is not hard to get right, and it was terrible. I was so sad that the dinners didn’t live up to expectations either. Mediocre at best. My husband commented at one point that my home cooking blew this restaurant away lol. For over $130 I should have cooked at home. So bummed about the quality of the food because the restaurant itself is so pretty.

We enjoyed the quiet table and great service (thanks Nancy!). Food was very good (lamb shank special and Beef Wellington) as was the wine (comprehensive list). Prices were very reasonable. All in all, a really enjoyable dinner.

Always dependable with good food and service. Love tables downstairs, in the bar or front porch for winter or especially outside patio in the nice weather.

Always a wonderful experience!! We arrived early so we went to the downstairs bar for a drink. The bartender was quite accommodating in our gin choice and actually ran upstairs to retrieve it! Dinner was delicious and the service fantastic

Ambience and entrees are great, especially their signature dish, beef Wellington. However, they advertise a happy hour in the terrace, but they charge full price..

Sat at the bar first waiting for our tbale. Happy hour prices very good. Had a great dinner. Got to sit near the fireplace. Great ambiance. The food was exceptional. Beef Wellington is to die for.

Tom was our server. He was very professional, knowledgeable, courteous and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and filling. The deserts were a perfect end to a wonderful dinner. We also stayed the night in the Franklin Suite! It was so roomy and very comfortable. What a wonderful Birthday evening and night! Thank you so much to the entire staff for such a fine meal and experience!

We enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the turtle soup and farmer's stew. My Kale Salad was good. The scottish salmon a bit overcooked and bland. But overall, a lovely site for special occasion dinner.

My favorite restaurant, to which no other restaurant in the Philadelphia area remotely compares. George, Patrick, Nancy, Kitty, the " busboys", the amazingly accommodating chefs, the wonderful bar staff- Every time I return to GW, it gets even better than my previous visit. Last night, we sampled the snapper soup ( with sherry to add if preferred), the crab cakes, the salmon, and we enjoyed espresso martinis, as well as a dessert cocktail which hit the sweet tooth spot! It was my friend's birthday so Nancy surprised her with a beautiful fresh fruit dessert with whipped cream which came on a plate beautifully decorated with her " Happy Birthday" message ? So thoughtful... Thank you to the General Warren staff!!!

It was my birthday and the meal was superb, as always. And the requested table by fireplace was just lovely. I had the lobster appetizer, Beef Wellington (my special occasion go-to!) and a cheese cake dessert. The special, and pricey, Dads Hat Manhattan was very good, but what deters from it being excellent is the cheap red dye cherry! Hello, luxardo maraschinos need to be added to the bar stock!

The General Warren Inne is a delightful, historical place to dine. We were seated on the sun porch, but it was warm and cozy. The food we had was excellent and the portions were such that we brought some home. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. We had starters and entrees, but were too full to even consider dessert, so we can't speak to the sweets. The wine and cocktail selection was very good. We would go back again and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely place to dine.

Special occasion dinner for six on 2/18/2024. Wonderful ambiance; seated at a very nice fireplace table as requested. Server Rich friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Food very good but not quite great. Place was packed so wonder whether kitchen might have been a bit stressed. Bill without tip $425 so about $70pp pretty reasonable for such a nice place.
