The drinks and pastries were amazing and fresh. The inside was very modern and neat.

Most of the staff were nice and willing to help. I went on a late Saturday morning so it was very busy and difficult to see who was in line and who already ordered. I will definitely be coming back, however.

Coffee was amazing! Good vibes all around.

Phenomenal brunch spot, offering house-made bakery items and elevated breakfast staples. I had the mushroom pizza and basque cheesecake, both were amazing and fresh. There was a bit of a line but it moved fast and there was virtually no wait for the food to arrive. Seating is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. I can’t wait to come back and try the other menu items.

My wife and I love The Buttery - Malvern. Great treats, lunch, coffee, and matcha lattes!

I have traveled on business many times to western Europe, especially France and Switzerland. More often than not, for breakfasts I would order a croissant. The Buttery's croissants are as good as, and often better than, any croissant I have had in those countries----soft, moist interior, flaky outside, just salty enough and hold their shape when reheated. Really excellent job!! Don't change a thing.

Always way too crowded and impossible to find a table. The pastries are all very dry. Coffee is good but that's about it.

Good location and cafe gets a lovely amount of sun. The cafe gets quite busy, and it’s hard to get a seat. Almond and oat milk are offered. Cappuccino and matcha were delicious. $13 for a piece of toast with eggplant caponata (vegan) seems overpriced to me. The caponata was delicate, and the bread had a firm crust with a classic sourdough texture inside. I clearly ordered the green garbanzo hummus (vegan), the woman at the cash register pointed out that it’s a sandwich (as per the menu), and I said that was fine. I double-checked with her that both savory dishes were vegan and expressed gratitude for their vegan options. When the food came out, I saw that one was a sandwich and never even thought about it until after, when I read the receipt and went back to the menu. We were charged for and served the Mediterranean Eggplant Focaccia (vegetarian), not the Green Garbanzo Hummus. I wish I had realized the mistake when the food was served. I did order correctly. Please be aware that following customers' diets is important.

Love The Buttery; but the ordering set up has got to be the least efficient on the planet. One line for all ordering even if you just want a hot drink. All sandwich and drink orders are done after waiting in a long line at the register, which then requires a wait for your sandwich or drink to be made. If sandwich and drink orders were done at the front of the line, it would be ready for you by the time you got the the register

Great food. Full menu with varied choices. Unique ingredients that come together to form combos that work. Turkey and cheddar quirks well with slaw and slices of apple.
Noise level can be a bit intense when eating in, but we'll worth it.

Excellent stop for lunch and snacks! It was slammed when I was there but the line moved quickly. Very loud and not great for working if it’s busy but when it’s quieter I did see people on their laptops.

I was introduced to Malvern Buttery early start of winter 2021. Ever since then I’ve loved them. I moved an hour away from this place and I would still make the drive. I’ll look forward to their pastries so much. Now with the new renovation they have a rule of no screens 8am-2pm on the dining tables. I understand from a businesses perspective you want more people to come in, eat, sit, leave instead of a laptop user just ordering once or twice and staying. But it’s unfortunate because some of us put so much time and effort to get to your business and then we can’t do what we had to do in the first place. It left me disappointed today and I realized all the time, effort and gas I put to get there wasn’t worth it. I can’t work at the “coffee bar”. It’s crammed, where else is one supposed to put their bag, what they bought, jacket? Also, your pastries have gone down hill as well. I found a hair in my cake slice ($10). Ordered an everything bagel- very hard and salty. It seems that your guys are very successful and maybe this review won’t do anything to you but I wanted to share my opinion. I hope you can fix your screen rule, less salt on the everything bagel and please… better coffee.

When a pastry/coffee shop starts to do business, it stops doing their pastries. Then it loses its businesses.

Having loved this place for years, telling all my friends how good this place is and urging them to come, although it had only three square tables and a few window seats, at least I respected the old Malvern Buttery - they seemed to care about their pastries. The customers waited for a long time without seats, at least the customers were equally ignored - none was labeled.

Suddenly, either you changed your owner or your owner became ambitious - renovation, new menu and a whole lot more customers. New store opened in Ardmore. One is being prepared in Bryn Mawr. Nice, isn’t it?

Now things become interesting. Your new business move is to label your customers. As a loyal “laptop” customer, I am not welcomed anymore. Oh, “it’s just from 8am to 2pm”. You are pretending that you care about one group while casting out the other. What a beautiful business move. Ah, “back end of the coffee bar” - you mean the 3-4 seats at the doors of the restrooms?it makes me think of the old days when black passengers were only allowed at the back of a bus.

One day I was sitting at the big table, new customers came and squeezed in, what a magical moment! People started to talk to each other and I’ve heard strangers having long and meaningful conversations. I was thinking, wow, this is what a local pastry shop should look like - but now, seeing your new policy, I could only laugh at the naive me.

My advice? Mind your pastries. Let the customers figure out their seats. Then you are still the old good 4.8/5.0 Malvern Buttery not the new fancy Buttery - Malvern.

Don’t be so stupid to group your customers and treat them differently. Laptop users do buy food. Besides discrimination, there are many more better ways such as imposing a universal two-hour time limit for each order - if customers want to stay longer? They order more.

PS: one more thing I hated post-renovation is that you stopped making the coffee chocolate scone.
