It was very small and the owner did everything (waitress, cook, etc.) The selection of food was small but EXCELLENT.

Parking: The lot was small but adequate. The was no handicapped spots open. With steps to get into the restaurant.

I just had one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time at Joseie's German Restaurant. I live in Harrisburg and believe the only decent German Restaraunt in miles is the Schmankerl Stube in Hagarstown MD (if you haven't eaten there it's worth the drive). So I was hungry for German food and a Google search came up with Joseie's German Restaurant in Mechanicsburg, so I figured I'd give it a try...It's located in a rundown house with the downstairs converted into whatever it is with a bunch of folding tables and chairs. That should have been my first clue to run. But I figured I'd give it a try. I ordered Sauerbraten with Spätzle and red cabbage. You can't get much more traditional garden variety German than that. I was hungry so I ordered a double helping of the Spätzle. There was one other elderly couple that came in as I was ordering and they sat at the folding table next to me.

The girl that took my order (maybe it was Josie, I don't know) left to go into the kitchen and, without exaggeration, came back 4 minutes later and set my meal in front of me. I almost asked her, "is there anything you just served me that didn't go from the refrigerator to the microwave to my table just now?" but I didn't want to be rude.

So now, sitting in front of me on the folding table is a small square salad size plate with a clump of anemic looking Spätzle with (I kids you not) seven small cubes of unrecognizable meat with a little graveyard on it. I swear, I would have been embarrassed to have served that to someone. And next to the salad plate was a small dish if brownish-red cabbage soaked in vinegar. As I mentioned, clearly everything in front of me came right out of the microwave and it wasn't prepared today...or any time this week I would say.

Then the people next to me were served what looked like it was supposed to be schnitzel with Spätzle and I am telling you, I ordered a double helping and they did not and my pile of Spätzle was no bigger then theirs.

So I started to eat my meal. The meat was well done leftover beef cubs with tasteless graveyard and soggy tired out Spätzle and the red cabbage made my eyes water.

I ate what I could, paid my bill of around $25 and was in my car 15 minutes after I went in. I didn't say a word because I was so shocked and embarrassed about the whole experience and as I drove home I was mad at myself for not sending the whole thing back and leaving.

I see this place has 4 and 5 star ratings and I don't know what to say about that, but my experience was not even a one star. It was so bad, I can't believe it was just an off night.

That's it for me.

This place is amazing. Easily the best German food I've ever had. I got the rouladen, and it was so incredibly tender. Awesome spaetzel as well. Wish they had a bigger parking lot but ya can't win them all.

It's been so long since I've been to a good German restaurant, and this place doesn't disappoint. I got the Wurst Platter and that was the best wurst (no pun intended) that I've had in quite a while. I got spaetzle instead of potato salad and I'm so glad I did. It was so light and not at all oily like many other places.

This is like eating at your Oma's house. You get the feeling that it isn't supposed to be a restaurant. It's just someone opened up their house to cook for you. Was it the best most authentic German food the world has ever known? Maybe. That mushroom gravy is certainly the best I've ever had. Did it hit the spot? Absolutely. It's the kind of meal you eat with your mouth and your heart.

I also bought some spetzel to make at home.
